I would think as long as Obama, Clinton & Bush are there, they will not hesitate to stop problems before they start.

the general submitted his ‘pro-forma’ resignation 30 days ago. according to Fox News this morning, the Trump transition team requested that he stay on. He declined their request, thus his resignation is effective at 12:01pm on 20 Jan. If he would have said ‘yes’ he would have remained in command. I guess the question, in light of this news, should be: Did the DC ARNG commanding general decide that he wanted to cause a political furry and snub the new president? Of course the Washington Communist Post would be happy to spread a false story just to embarrass Mr. Trump.

Thus “he had to go” was because of his declining to extend, the DoD had NO other option than to announce that he was relieved of duty at the time of the relief of other presidential appointees, 12:01 pm 20 Jan.

Thank you for that clarification. It is a very strange set of facts. I fully expect a far ranging purge of the US military across the board. I believe they have been infested with leftist.

Back to my original question. Has every federal employee that Trump doesn’t want to stay been told? Are resignation letters actually written? Or does the appointment letter state the end date unless noticed? If that’s the case then he wasn’t fired or removed or whatever. Same goes for every appointee. Correct? Bub

You’re welcome. I do NOT expect a “purge” of the military flag officers. Some will choose to retire for whatever reason and no objection will be made. I’ve been with the Army as enlisted man, a commissioned officer and a civilian employee for 41 years and have never seen a ‘purge’ except for when the military was downsized and all ranks were “permitted” to separate early via early-out, increase in the number of people selected for promotion, thus being required to separate after, for officers, the “2nd passover” or hitting an age/re-enlistment date.

Yes, this is on his shoulders, I heard Fox as well this a.m.

It is not all "Fake News" that is the problem, it is a whole" Who, What, When, Where, and Why, and double sourcing is missing supplanted by my guess, editors with a political agenda. FWIW, we know he is a conservative, but the closest we have to a real old fashion Gum-Shoe Reporter is Tucker Carlson, the best I have seen since the late Tim Russert.

We need a boatload like this guy that was on TV eons ago....

Thank you for your service in all capacities to our country.I am convinced in my opinion that much of the current military command now achieved success by sycophantic “suck up” on liberal leftist social and political agenda crap. I am referring to “women in combat” and transgender nonsense and queers in fox holes and showers dancing around openly. Mattis got out because he could not abide that crap. My use of the concept of purge is largely wishful but I can’t see President Trump not cleaning house!!

Well you didn’t expect the Compost to include the info that HE declined to stay on....

At times DT may APPEAR to be rude and crude but he isn’t intentionally stupid.
A ‘smart ass’ (like me) may figure on having my ‘retirement’ ceremony at 1201 no matter where I was standing.(That’ll show them)

These f’n newspapers and new bureaus haven’t fact checked in so long they forgot that others may do it as a just cause.

Thanks for the update. The media really managed to mess up this story with their incomplete, inaccurate, and ever-changing reporting.

The original WaPo story left out all the background and made it sound like the general had no idea whatsoever why he was being terminated.

Subject: Close D.C. Capitol: donate buildings to Smithsonian

IDEA: Why don’t we close down the Capitol Building in DC?
Cost savings:
1. Little to no transportation per Representative/Senator.
2. Hold town hall meetings every Monday throughout own state.
3. The building could be given to Smithsonian &/or used once a year for the State of the Union Message
4. Use of electronic communication for voting, committee meetings, etc. open to Sunshine Laws
5. No need for Senator & Representative duplication of housing, offices, staff
6. More environmental ‘friendly’ reducing: paper waste, reduction electricity,
7. One-Third of Federal Government less vulerable to terrorist attack
8. Current Senator/Representative Office space could be donated for low income housing, Malls, etc.

POLITICAL BENEFITS:
1. Reduce lobbyists control over government
2. Representatives/Senators more responsive to constituents
3. Increase accountability WHILE reducing immoral temptation for Representatives/Senators

I think it was an opportunity for Obama to get one of his Chicago people promoted.

The incoming general was promoted by Obama a year ago. He is a Chicago native. He’s only a few years younger than Schwartz.
