A Left-wing American friend confessed a few days ago that he was beginning to like Donald Trump: ‘He’s got no mental teleprompter,’ he told me admiringly, ‘no notes, no filter, no volume control. He just says stuff, and sometimes he’s got a point . . .’
My friend has been uncontactable since Wednesday’s press conference. I think he might either be in Heaven or in hospital from shock. Because this was the most madcap performance by an incoming president since the 19th century, when Andrew Jackson took a bullet in the arm in a bar fight with a Senator.
It was a wild ride — terrifying, exhilarating, sometimes just plain pinch-yourself odd. It was ‘proper’ in only in one respect: a proper beginning to the era of Donald Trump.
Let us deal briefly with the notion that the 45th president is — unwittingly or not — an agent of the Kremlin. Yes, yes I know this would normally be enough of a big deal, but there is so much more we need to get to. The allegations of sexual oddness in Russian hotel rooms are highly unlikely to be proved one way or the other, so they sit in the background, toxic to some but not fatal.
His line dismissing the sex tape news — ‘It was a group of opponents that got together, sick people, and they put that crap together’ — was vintage Trump.
No lawyer would have advised a client to say that. No spin doctor would have massaged and sculpted our dear old English language into that phrase. He just blurted it out; plain and lumpy and utterly, utterly Trump....

What a contrast to Obama's pretentious, high-flown "farewell" speech the night before. Trump's performance not only punctured that hot-air balloon - he also totally eclipsed the Obama event. No one is talking about it anymore.

Do these idiots really think they can convince the public that Trump engaged in a “shouting match” and gave a “madcap performance”? Trump maintained a low civil tone as this arrogant CNN prick kept interrupting him. His “fake news” comment came after about six interruptions.
No reporter EVER would have considered treating Obama so disrespectfully, and if they had they would have never worked again.
Nothing these people throw against Trump ever works. Will they ever figure that out?

I made the observation that a large part of the criticism of then-candidate Trump stemmed from the fact that he is outspoken and occasionally boorish. But I, for one, have grown tired of nuanced presidents and actually find his off-the-cuff approach somewhat refreshing.
Bush never punched back at how bad he was treated. The press sniffed Obama’s pants and told him how great he was for 8 years. Finally we have a president that punches back, and hard, and finally maybe we have some press that will actually report news and investigate the government. Of course I’m not holding my breath on that last one. Their marching orders are out to destroy Trump and the republicans. Oh well. F’em.
People are just drawn to an alpha male...both men and women.

Instead of hurting DJT this sorry incident boosted him.
We should all pray for Trump’s safety...inauguration is only a few days away now and I fear they would do anything to stop him. This is for all the marbles, this is the beginning of the end for globalism, trillions of dollars are being whisked away from greedy criminals.
