I wish there were breakfast soup recipes. I would love something hot in the morning that isn’t mush.

Agree with your comment about questionable origin. The one and only time I bought Costco’s rotisserie chicken the meat was layered with thick globules of fat. As do you, I recommend staying away from Costco’s rotisserie chickens.

I love the onion soup that the local Japanese place makes and could handle that just about every day.

Otherwise I never really cared for most soups.

I made a huge pot of cabbage roll soup yesterday. I could eat that stuff everyday, and never get tired of it.

the bug rotisserie birds at Costco

I have to wonder if e-s was referring to the insectoid origins of Costco fowl.

Vegetable Beef Soup with pulled-apart prime rib (leftovers), Jasmine Rice (and my nearly all-my-spices-in-the-spice-rack Secret Special Spice mixture), and some green Tabasco for a kick.

Mission Tortilla Chips for roughage, and voila, comfort food on a freezing day in Seattle.

.
That “fat” that you discovered in the meat is not likely even chicken fat.

Chickens store their fat just under the skin, and that fat is quite healthy to consume, but the stuff in the muscles is not normal.

Mom used to make this for us after we got back from evening services in the winter.

Take one jar of beef stock, heat until just under boiling, break egg into bowl, pour soup gently over egg and let sit for about two minutes, add croutons if you like. Eat.

I remember that stuff!

Oh, wait a minute.

Maybe I don’t want to admit it.

Never took it though.

I was still thin in those days being a teenager.
