Rich gap-toothed farmer dies, glamorous ‘gold digger’ wife fights for fortune

RESSED in a floppy hat, with his wiry grey hair poking out of the side, Marcel Amphoux gave a wide grin to the camera, showing his missing teeth.
In his neatly tied claret cravat, with his attractive younger bride on his arm, the affectionately nicknamed “Hermit of the Alps” had never looked so smart or so proud.
But to Marcel’s friends in the small French village of Puy-Saint-Pierre, the 67-year-old’s marriage to this glamorous blonde, 25 years his junior, would be his undoing.
They were convinced that property agent Sandrine Devillard was a calculating gold-digger, who connived to marry the old peasant farmer for his valuable plot of land in the Alps.

in california a handwritten will is legal without witnesses of course like anything it can be contested..like howard hughes’s supposed wills. then you have community property and non community property states and right to will pre marriage posessions.

My Dad has dementia. A few years ago before it really kicked in, we had a PoA drawn up and the attorney not only had witnesses, she videotaped the procedure. This was in Atlanta. I live in Pennsylvania and the procedures are similar here.
As far as this European situation, maybe the story is as written but when I lived in a European village (granted many years ago) everybody was related to everybody else. This would mean the people living in this guy's “huts” would be relatives of his “friends”. There may be no “uninterested” parties in this.

This reads like a Perry Mason episode. Too bad he was killed, but good for him that she never found and destroyed his hand written will.

What surprised was seeing the comment "I've done worse." being made by someone other than Laz. :=)

in June 2012, three months after the clip was filmed, he spoke briefly to a local paper. He admitted he had not heard from his wife “for some time”.
A wife on paper only + left out of the legal will = hit the bricks.
