No, Star Wars is better. . . if for no other reason than this:

Maclean’s Magazine in 2005 investigated the fact that a surprising number of pedophiles arrested by the Toronto Police are Trekkies:

The first thing detectives from the Toronto
police sex crimes unit saw when they entered Roderick Cowan’s apartment was an autographed picture of William Shatner. Along with the photos on the computer of Scott Faichnie, also busted for possessing child porn,
they found a snapshot of the pediatric nurse and Boy Scout leader wearing a dress “Federation” uniform. Another suspect had a TV remote control shaped like a phaser. Yet another had a Star Trek credit card in his wallet. One was using “Picard” as his screen name. In the 3 1/2 years since police in Canada’s biggest city established a special unit to tackle child pornography, investigators have been
through so many dwellings packed with sci-fi books, DVDs, toys and collectibles like Klingon swords and sashes that it’s become a dark squadroom joke. “We always say there are two types of pedophiles: Star Trek and Star Wars,” says Det. Ian Lamond, the unit’s second-in-command. “But it’s mostly Star Trek.”

MOVIE Quote DB

Of all the weapons in the vast soviet arsenal nothing was more profitable than Avtomat Kalashnikova model of 1947, more commonly known as the AK-47, or Kalashnikov. It’s the worlds most popular assault rifle, a weapon all fighters love. An elegantly simple nine pound amalgamation of forged steel and plywood, it doesn’t break, jam, or overheat. It will fire whether it’s covered in mud or filled with sand. It’s so easy even a child could use it, and they do. The Soviets put the gun on a coin. Mozambique put it on their flag. Since the end of the Cold War, the Kalashnikov has become the Russian people’s greatest export. After that comes vodka, caviar, and suicidal novelists. One thing is for sure, no one was lining up to buy their cars.

“The best weapon at full auto has to be the old Thompsons but I never got a chance to fire a BAR. “

I think the weight of the BAR helped control the recoil. The complaint that the BAR gunners had was the weight and having to schlepp the heavy thing around.

I use the barrel climb to my advantage. Shoot first at ground targets and then aerial targets next. ;)

P.S. Trek is better than Star Wars, and Chevy better than Ford. :>)

And Gibson is better than Fender, Pepsi is better than Coke, and Budweiser is better than Miller...

Glad we could finally put some of these debates to rest. ;-)

The main limitations are the short sight radius and very basic short-range sights

Sight radius on an AK is nearly identical to the M4... their just a little farther from the eye.

If they had to engage anybody past 100 yards, every squad had a designated marksman with a 7.62x54R Dragunov

So, does anyone believe an M-4 with iron sights is a sniper weapon?

The peep sight does make it shoot more accurately than the AK’s open sight, but if you want actually hit somebody at 500m, pick the M-14.

I didn’t realize you were comparing the AK with sniper weapons, my bad.

No, go back to my original point - short sight radii diminish a weapon’s capability for precise aiming. Some of the principal weaknesses of the AK -47 are the coarse, close-coupled sights which make it a close-in weapon only.

Which is great for us, of course.
