We do a drill at my range:

• Knife attacker and shooter stand back-to-back with attacker facing uprange.
• On command, the attacker runs uprange while the shooter draws and fires.
• Without fail, the attacker gets 18-20' before the shot is fired
• This is in a no stress environment with the shooter expecting the drill
• In the real world, a knife wins within 7 yards.
