New Republicans are helping to even the field in several swing states

According to a survey by the AP, Republicans have gained in the race to have the most registered voters in Arizona, Iowa, Florida and North Carolina.

Given the well-deserved 11% approval rating Congress has, common sense says these voters are excited about voting for Donald Trump and not their local Republican Congressional Representative.

Newly registered voters are believed to have pulled Republicans to competitive positions in both Colorado and Nevada.

In Arizona, the big registration gains have been among Independents, but Republicans still hold a 159,000 registered voter edge. The caution from the AP on Arizona is the fast growing number of registered Independent voters. Apparently the AP has disallowed the likely fact that the growth in Arizona’s Independents who now number 1.4 million, is being fueled by disgusted Republicans wanting to distance themselves from the RNC.

Iowa is another state where an effective ground operation has kept Republicans ahead of Democrats among registered voters.

There are about 20,000 felons who are mostly Blacks that are not eligible to vote by law.

In Florida, since 2012, the Democrats’ voter registration advantage has fallen 48% from 535,000 to 258,000. As compared to Democrat registration, this shift places Republicans just under...

Haven’t done the math, but could Trump win with Romney states and picking up FL, Iowa, NV, CO, NC, OH and ME ?

This makes me think of Rush Limbaugh’s comments back in August when he said that one important thing for Trump to do in his favour is to bring in people who have either not voted at all or have not done so in years.

[Hey I used to live in Ottawa as well]

Gains in voters (that have not voted for a few cycles or never) need to offset suburban married women who are likely to not vote (or even vote for HC)

The interesting thing is that those people are by definition not "likely voters", even though they are likely to vote this time. This throws off the polling.

I am a suburban married woman who moved to Arizona this year (stopped wasting my vote in California). Will happily vote for Trump in November. Cast my first vote in the August primary (against McCain) and was happy to see that I had to show proper ID at the polling center with a valid address.

Good point. By definition, they have no voting history.

I remember reading back a few months ago that there are large numbers of "forgotten" voters registering; people who had given up on the process and not voted in 25 or 30 years. There is one and only one reason for this; Trump.
