If there is anything truly deplorable about conservatives, it is our deplorable lack of imagination, creativity, new ideas, resourcefulness, mental flexibility, and use of language. We could use a really strong injection of humor, and our own late night talk show host on TV as well. But all in due time. First, we have to work on our language skills. Second, we have to stop being stuck forever on defense.
We let the Left write the words and terms we use, and that always defines the national debate in their favor. I’ve tried for years, for example to substitute the propagandistic expression “assault weapon” with the far more accurate “freedom rifle.” That way the Left would have to rephrase their favorite question as: “Why do you need a Freedom Rifle?” That rephrased question actually answers itself. Language is everything. It is power, it changes and influences minds, and it wins elections.

Simply not true. The “progressives” have been able to do this because they siezed the media, the education system, and the universities. They did this deliberately as part of a plan.
Give me the education system the media and the universities and I will reverse it.
They were able to do it because they have a unified view of the universe that does not care about morality or anything except power.
Conservatives on Free Republic use and bitterly defend the use of Left Wing language innovations partly because that’s what they learned in school. Public school doesn’t explain or excuse the instant adoption by posters here ofother fresh Leftwing coinages and redefinitions. When the MSM decreed that the political colors of red and blue would henceforth be reversed FR posters took up the change gladly within days. I don’t think 10% remember what it was before the Liberal Decree went out over the land or what the colors signified.
I don’t think it should be mandatory tho the Constitution probably indicates it should be, but I think the government should supply a new AR-15 or similar arm to any citizen between the ages of 21 and 60, who wants one.
Also a thousand rounds of ammo and maybe a hundred more per year. The only exceptions would be for traitors and treasonous leftists.

I bitched about that endlessly when the media started doing that. Our Republican leadership simply rolled over and embraced it.
What George Herbert Walker Bush should have done was to throw a screaming fit about it. "NO! I will not be identified with the colors of COMMUNISM. That Color is appropriate to Bill Clinton, because he advocates Socialism, and *HE* traveled to Communist countries during the cold war, and *HE* protested American Soldiers in Vietnam during the time he was draft Dodging in England."
The Whole party should have thrown a screaming fit about that, and we should have known something was wrong when they didn't.

I do think I would rather have an H-Bar than an M-4.

OK then. Let’s start calling them “anti-assault” rifles and see if that gains some traction.
Notice that while it would help you find an M4, it removes the stupid barriers to getting a new [whatever full auto you want].
