How Trump Could Win the Debate
Politico ^ | Sept 21, 2016 | Rich Lowery

Posted on 09/22/2016 1:02:12 PM PDT by upchuck

... Hllary Clinton will almost certainly win Monday night’s epic presidential debate on points — and still could lose...

... Trump won’t be particularly well-informed, and figures it won’t particularly matter — and may well be right...

... Without a teleprompter, message discipline still tends to elude him. The one-on-one format for an hour-and-a-half could make his thin knowledge painfully obvious. And any misstep or outburst that reinforces the idea that he lacks the qualities to be commander in chief would be devastating...

... The cost is that she has done more than anyone to lower the standard for Trump. It’s not as though he needs to mount a convincing, detailed defense of his tax or child care plan or anything else to invalidate Clinton’s critique of him; he just needs to seem a reasonable person...

... And then he can look for a big moment or two that will be memorable and drive the post-debate conversation in the media that is arguably as important as the debate itself...

... Hillary is both formidably well-prepared for Monday, and at significant risk. Such is the dynamic of the race and the way most voters absorb information that she could “win” on points, and still lose ground.

Some obviously biased remarks from Politico.

Politico is claiming the post-debate stone throwing by the media is as important as the debate. Sorry, I don't agree.

Hillary recites people’s names, department and institutional and committee names, legislation names. Doesn’t add up to much. Her canned answers are empty.

How Trump Could Win the Debate

Stand there and wait for Hillary to:
1. Fall down?
2. Go Bobble head?
3. Go cross-eyed?
4. Rant like Hitler?
5. All of the above?

It is during the debates where the undecided LIV will most likely rouse themselves from their slumber and see how Trump looks - compared to Hillary.

LIV’s have been told how scary, racist, xenophobic, etc, etc. Trump is; for them, all he has to do in the debates is present himself as reasonable, and somewhat statesman-like, and he will win over the majority of these undecideds.

They know they don’t want to vote for Hillary, so they just need to know that Trump looks “reasonable” to vote for him.

That’s how I see it anyway.

Hillary rambles, like Obama, and people tune out. She’s boring. Speaks way too long, like Obama. They like to hear themselves talk because they thing they are so brilliant. People tune them out.

How Trump Could Win the Debate:

1) Show up. Hillary’s ratings will immediately go down.

2) Be ready to fight the Lying Leftist Scribes as much as Crooked Hillary.

3) Be Trump and let Hillary be Hillary. Hillary’s ratings will go down further as the “debate” progresses.

BTW, this is not a “debate.” It is a rigged Q&A session with the Leftist media, who are part Hillary’s campaign, running the show. Why Trump and the Right put up with this I’ll never know.

So Rich Lowry is reduced to writing for Politico. He’ll obviously work for anyone who will sign a check. There will be quite a few media “conservatives” who will be trying to find those checks after Trump wins.

Tell The Truth.

I for one am tired of lies and spin.

Even though I was not a Trump fan in the beginning, I have found his straight talk a quite refreshing contrast to all the usual Washington Weasel Wordage.

Any person that thinks Trump doesn’t know the issues or “the numbers” is an idiot.

What these people don’t understand is leadership is not about policy papers. Leaders develop the vision, and then they empower the people to come up with the best solution.

Hillary tells you what government will do for you. Trump talks about an America where people can plan their own success.

Trump will kill her in the debates. All he needs to ask if she is a liar whenever she opens her mouth.

I agree, Trump will score big by just looking and sounding normal and in command, while Hillary looks sickly and sounds shrill.

It’s obvious from previous presidential elections that people don’t pay much attention to the content of what is said. The news media might have some impact with their constant drum beat that Trump is uninformed.

We’ll see if Lester has any “gotcha” questions intended to embarrass Trump.

Faulty premises lead to faulty conclusions.

Hillary is not going to be able to get one whit more specific than Trump because she will perceive herself as contradicting herself on many of the points she would so make. I realize I am being “optimistic” WRT her utter shamelessness and pathological lying..she’s never shown resistance to that. But this will be under far more direct comparison and scrutiny.

She will hesitate in telling ways when she realizes what she has to say to counter what Trump says. And THAT is the trap Trump must lay for her. He really has to drop some greasy slimy banana peels on the floor and I’d be shocked if that was not under the most pointed preparation possible. He has to lay those mines in such a way that she might innocently START to reply and then catch herself. The realizations have to occur in her mind. It can be done. She is not spontaneous at all, and he has to goad her into being more specific than she would ever want to be.

Say something to her that will cause her to SCREECH!
She has a voice that would curl paint!
Imagine 4 years of listening to THAT!
I’d have to keep my hearing aides shut off for her entire term!

I just worry he’s spent so much time campaigning (where he controls the narrative) that one can only hope he is prepared to be a guest on Jeoprady where the other guest probably already has the questions

Obama and Bill Clinton’s rambling appealed to many people: using lots of words was considered a sign of their “intelligence.” Hillary’s rambling is overridden by her terrible delivery.

Here' one way to win...

Have the Trump camp demand that he gets to stand with a podium, use note cards, and have a pen.

Let the Clinton camp demand that she sit.
