These “laws” that allow this are nothing more than the government’s way of getting around the Constitution that explicitly forbids this.
The leftists hate private property, and use any excuse to seize it.
You only think you own something. The government thinks otherwise.

Adding to my dismay about what appears to be lawless law officers, I offer this:

The search warrants were issued by Saginaw County judges, said Outside Legal Counsel, which is representing the Ostipows. But it’s unclear why the Saginaw County officers were in a neighboring county’s jurisdiction and didn’t get search warrants from Shiawassee County judges.

How the HELL is THAT legal? A judge in one county can issue a warrant against someone in another county, not served by law officers of the county but his own???

3-7-77. Used to live in Montana, at one time they knew how to deal with corrupt law enforcement.

Regard this article as describing yet another casualty along the road in the war on drugs.

Exactly. Been going on for too long.

President GWH Bush, March 05, 1991 =>

Asset forfeiture laws allow us to take the ill-gotten gains of drug kingpins and use them to put more cops on the streets and more prosecutors in court.

In the last 5 years alone, the Justice Department shared over half a billion dollars in forfeited assets with State and local law enforcement.

Did not know that. I’m in New Mexico presently, am thinking of permanently relocating here. You just cited another reason to stay.

I’m guessing it was a multi-jurisdictional drug task force, another gift from the War on Drugs.

“I’m in New Mexico presently, am thinking of permanently relocating here.”

We can certainly use more conservatives here to help offset the flood of libtards that keep moving here. What part of the state are you in?

They need to look at the finances of the judge as well. More than likely, in on the action.

I googled the date. The only thing of significance was Bhutto’s party being founded in Pakistan.

The government shouldn’t be able to permanently seize property until their is a criminal conviction and a finding that the property was purchased with ill-gotten funds.

Whatever benefits good people hoped to derive from civil asset forfeiture laws, the abuses more than outweigh them. Those laws should all be repealed or at least predicated on a criminal conviction relevant to the asset to be seized.

We should amend the Constitution to protect citizens against this. Something like: ...nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

Problem solved.

What?

It’s not a date. 3-7-77 is the secret number of the Montana vigilantes. For one thingthey, tried and hung sheriff Plummer and his deputies. Who were also the bandits known as road agents.
