Media's Hillary-didn't-start-the-birther-thing narrative sure collapsed quickly

Result: Total meltdown.

We told you on Friday about how and why the media suddenly decided to return to the Obama birther story. It wasn’t because it suddenly became relevant again. It wasn’t because Trump brought it up. And it certainly wasn’t because any new information came to light. The media suddenly started asking Trump about this again for one reason and one reason only: Trump is soaring in the polls and they’re panicking, looking for a way to save Hillary.

So they decided to bring back to life one issue that they were sure they could hang on Trump in a damaging way. Let him say he doesn’t think Obama was born in the U.S., they attack him for being a crazy conspiracy theorist. Let him say he was, they attack him for his “flip-flop.” They returned to the issue because they figured Trump couldn’t wriggle out no matter what he said.

The media meltdown on Friday over this was fun to watch.

It was fun to see so many from the congressional black caucus come out sputtering over this.

That whole event has all the markings of being a pretty arranged event, with Democrats and the media working together to bring down Trump.

Bit it didn’t work. And now we are back to the real world of real events such as more terrorism. And talking about what pres candidates propose to do about it.

They didn’t anticipate two things:
1) that Trump would use this for a 30 minute promotional diverting their pretend ire about the flip-flop into real ire about getting rickrolled.
2) that Trump would bring up the origins of controversy, putting them on the defense.

But most of them knew so little about the issue that they were unaware that Hillary's campaign staff started it back in 2008. When the evidence that the Hillary campaign was behind the whole thing started coming out, they realized this would end up damaging Hillary instead of helping her.

Just another piece of evidence that the existing status of media needs to be regulated by the Voters. We must create laws to make it impossible for one party to have control over the media system.

-—It wasn’t because it suddenly became relevant again.-—

Well, it’s certainly still relevant in my eyes.

There is more evidence he is a Kenyan than born in the USA.

What HAS become irrelevant, is the Congress.

When they test a media myth and it isn't working, they move on in a hurry.

When they see one working like 'black lives matter', they beat it to death.

Hillary attacking Trump for birtherism is like Romney attacking Obama for Obamacare.

Yet my frickin’ crap-local-newspaper published the AP garbage saying Trump admitted one false story (birther) only to start another one (that Hillary first started the birther argument).

They are shameless partisans yet this is what some people consider to be “news”.

Obama's own publicist (supposedly under the direction of Obama himself) used his "Kenyan birth" to portray him as an exotic outsider when Obama had the divorce papers unsealed on his opponent, Jack Ryan, in the run up to the Illinois US Senate race.

Now news breaks that Sid "Vicious" Blumenthal took the birther story to McClatchy - they went to Kenya, investigated, and could not verify.

So we have Barry himself, Hillary, and Sid, yet the entire thing is wrapped around Trump's neck like a millstone.

Trump put an end to it, so put an end to it.

“What HAS become irrelevant, is the Congress.”

Along with the FBI. Obama could rape a nun on the White house lawn while Hillary Strangled someone to death beside him on the evening news, and neither would be prosecuted for anything.

There is no rule of law in the banana republic craphole that used to be the USA.

There is a case to be made that his citizenship was changed from being American but never legally changed back.

Congress may be irrelevant related to doing positive things for Americans, but, sadly, they have a lot of power and influence. I just saw a Clinton ad consisting of about 6 senators or congressmen saying why they can’t vote for Trump. They are really evil for doing this. It is a powerful ad which is running on Fox Business. My state is so blue that Dems don’t usually bother using any money here.

The sad thing is that it only takes about 10 minutes to expose the whole thing. Someone on YouTube ran a clip from Hardball where Matthews was highly critical of Hillary, or at least her proxies, starting the birther rumors back in 2007.

There is no excuse for how, well, deplorable the media has become.

This and the ridiculous Pepe thing have led me to suspect that the people planning this sort of campaign aren't really very Internet-aware. How long did it take the average reader with a search engine to find out who was talking about the Birth Certificate issue in 2008? Seconds?

As gotcha setups go it was pretty week from the outset, and the Great Trump Rickroll added the one deadly element of ridicule that let the air out of this thing with a sound like a giant whoopie cushion. The fact that it happened at all is proof of just how committed the media are to partisan machination and just how little good they actually have become at it, through a combination of ignorance, overconfidence, incompetence, and an insanely bloated sense of self-importance.

I have to say even having followed this issue pretty closely over the years, and knowing that it was laying there like a smoldering fire waiting for someone to pour gas on it, I couldn’t have in a million years have anticipated how deftly Trump handled it. I don’t know if the timing was luck in that they were attempting to bring it out just as he was planning a big event at his newly-opened D.C. hotel with military Medal of Honor winners endorsing him, but he basically corralled the press into a slaughtering pen, and proceeded to methodologically chop each of their heads off. He had them beaten on so many levels, from leveraging their hysteria to force them to provide live breaking coverage of him getting endorsed by Medal of Honor winners, to the absurdity of them squealing like stuck pigs because they apparently would rather him spend an hour talking about something that they long ago declared as a dead and trivial issue as opposed to his qualifications as commander in chief, to blaming the whole thing on Hillary, which they didn’t even know it them, but do know, turns out to be entirely true, not to mention putting Sidney Blumenthal’s name in the news, which can only be bad for Hillary. He turned what they thought to be his greatest Achilles’ Heel, and used it to tie them into a nice, tight little pretzel from which there was no escape. Epic!
