I would love to give men a generalized chivalrous treatment... How does this feel? Me thinks not so well. We are not better, and we are not LESS.

How dare men think we should be grateful for what they give us in terms of freedom?

Our liberties do not come from men. If they do , so does yours... Which means all freedom comes from other men and not God.

The father in the post which started the discussion turned out to be an alcoholic and left for a woman in another state. By that action he fundamentally abrogated his responsibility to his children; that of being available and fathering to them.

I already apologized to the poster. She seems to have had a bad situation and dealt with it as best possible.

If a father abandons his children imo there no value in them facing a recurring rejection.

Where does all freedom come from, ultimately? Seems to me where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty. Since this nation is now ignoring the Spirit of God, everyone’s liberty at risk! You sound much like the Reparations folks...perhaps harried white men everywhere should be paying all women reparations on top of what African Americans say we should be paying...! I’m responsible for how I treat women now...not how my fathers may have treated them. Now get with it...we have existential threats to this nation to deal with that will make this male /female dialectic crap seem like children playing patty cake one handed!

“We used to call it the annual Thanksgiving Day Massacre.”

Lol. Only other time I’ve heard that was in Iraq Thanksgiving, 2004 on Route Irish, between the IZ and Camp Victory. I was waiting in my Mitsubishi truck outside 3 BCT for the supervisor to come out in his F250 uparmored. I got the willies. I told my co worker and two military guys in the back “we gotta go. We gotta go NOW” “The Thanksgiving Day Massacre has a bad sound to it”. About 10 sec.s later I hear wump, wump off to the left, behind 3 BCT compound. A few seconds later BAAAM, a rocket impacts just over the wall, inside the 3 BCT compound. The truck gets showered with debris. My driver window is open, with 3 BCT on my left. 1’ degree more on the rocket elev. and we’d have been toast. It hit perpendicular to us on the other side of the wall.

True story.

Weirder still: 3 BCT compound became the new US Embassy compound. So in Nov. 2014 I was at the US Embassy to do counter-ISIS support. 2nd week there I’m on the phone with my co-worker back here telling how at indoc. they said no rounds had impacted in 2 years. While I’m on the VoSIP the alarm sounds and woomp, woomp, bam ...rocket impacts. One impacted almost the exact same spot I encountered 10 years prior! Hard to believe but it happened.

So I tell ppl the rockets are shot from pipes in the wall of the mosque at the Point of Launch. Yes, the point of launch is a mosque on an island in the river, south of the Embassy. A rather notorious mosque. Probably a wedding ceremony or something.

I’m so sorry to hear this. My best advice is to pray... pray, pray, pray. That has gotten me through some really tough times.

God bless both of you! Going on 30 years here through terrible difficulties but we still love each other. It does “take two to tango” though, and I sympathize with those whose spouses abandoned them.

I still think highly of my ex DIL...

in the back of my mind, I think of scenarios where they could get back in love......

I am of no party affiliation and of no religion. I agree that Sharia Law is a major threat. I also know if we don’t learn from history we are doomed to repeat it. Case in point-the early Christians who spread their “beliefs” to Egypt, Alexandria where they spread the teaching that women should not be teachers, etc.. Look at how this turned out for Hypatia? Never heard of her? Please research this injustice. And please don’t say this was done by some bad men or a bad man... The Bishop who ordered her killing, Cyril was made into a SAINT in 1883. Ultimately, Christians took over the Roman Empire and laid to waste any nation not in agreement. And now here comes the spread of Islam.

I agree on everything you said. And I get chastised by White Knights, Man Boobs, and Blue Pill Betas who have an old fashioned view of marriage that does not match Red Pill reality.

Well you have a problem then because this nation very early on was founded on tenets of a Judeo-Christian consensus, though one that followed more after Melchizidek versus Aaron(the Christ that stopped the stoning of the prostitute vs the Pharisee that demanded it). It created a male citizenry who tended to be fair minded and could be persuaded over time to afford rights to women and to begin to see them as equals. The latter part of Galatians 3 (if you would read it) speaks of the true equality of those who are in Jesus, there was to be no Jew or Greek, slave or free, rich or poor , or man or woman but all were to be One in Christ Jesus. In this present life and relative to various cultures there were differences in the roles of men and women in the church but it was always wrong from the perspective of Christ to see these roles as ‘superior and inferior’ in the eyes of God. Christ said the roles of men and women will change in the resurrection anyway as all will be as the angels who neither marry nor will be given in marriage. Complete freedom!

As for your grasp of history, The Romans had already “laid waste” before the Christians even took it over...the Empire was already in slow decline when the Christians became the dominant religion and it split under Diocletian as it was too big and unwieldy to be controlled from Rome anymore! Christianity would become the accepted state religion under Constantine! The western half would fall in 476 and the Eastern half would finally fall in 1453 via the Seljuk Turks. It was Christians in 732 that beat back the Muslims from Tours but it would be another 760 years before they were completely driven out of Europe (Spain 1492). Various other battles and Islam was relegated to Turkey, nations in North Africa who were subjugated by Europe, and the middle East and certain sections of Asia such as Afghanistan and India. So the history of GEOPOLITICAL Christianity is a bit more complicated as it took a bit of muscular vision to inspire men to beat back Islam to where it was subdued in the world by 1914 and the outbreak of WW1 !

It will take another moral force of suitable masculine vision to beat back Islam again...but I think the next time a higher power will intervene...Israel will never be destroyed again and God himself will intervene! That is a personal belief...I know you don’t believe it!

Agreed, the Romans were in decline in the 4th Century CE, this is WHY Constantine saw the early Christian movement as the perfect strategy to unite the Roman Empire. Constantine FORCED all Roman Citizens to be Christian. Refusal was death. Perhaps, this is what the current Globalists are hoping to achieve with ISLAM.

As for my grasp of history, Fact- The dark ages BLOOMED the more Catholic the Roman Empire became. From the 5th century to roughly the early part of 16th century, the western world of innovation ceased to exist-Thanks to the Roman Catholic Church.

BTW I am the same weight now as I was almost ten years ago. Can you say the same for yourself?
**************************************************

Yes, I am the same weight. However, I can’t say the same about my husband. I guess that would give me the right to trash him, if I were completely shallow.

Did you ever think that there is a reason that you attract shallow women that are void of any substance?

Could it be that you might be just as shallow?

It takes a quality man to attract a quality women.

Well a funny thing happened on the way to the ‘reformation”. A certain series of plagues also broke out killing 50 per cent of the European population and in many other parts of the traveled world between 1346 to 1353.(7 years...interesting) It would take until the 17th century to get back to pre-plague population levels in the world and the plagues are often blamed for Europe's ‘stand still’ in growth...as there were sections that were vastly depopulated. You forget that the printing press( I call it the single great forge and anvil of the dissemination of Protestantism) was invented during this so called dark period you are mentioning!

A lot of women put on weight in pregnancy, having THEIR children and that is hard to lose.

At least women have that excuse.

I wonder what men’s is?

My husbands excuse is that he eats too much. So what, I really don’t care unless he gets really fat and becomes unhealthy.

Lets face it, if we are lucky enough to live a long life, we are all going to get old and saggy anyway. What difference does a little extra weight matter?

If you are really that shallow, you don’t stand a chance at having any kind of meaningful relationship.
