Mark just promoted this thread on his Facebook page. I guess he’s upset about it.

Why was Cruz on the plane?"

Exactly!

If you play the game of “well if you add all the votes for all the other candidates”, then Trump loses. You can say that about ANY candidate! What absolute mind control nonsense. Ditto the rest of the candidates.

Trump won by the most votes ever in a Republican Primary that had a total of 17 competitors.

I don’t know why Mark plays this childish mind game? It’s just a reflection of his character. It seems like pride is strong in Mark’s world. Then again he is a Globalist.

Yep that’s pretty much it. At least Trump is exposing all these frauds.

I think Rush pulled out just in time.

Had he gone even a little further down the NeverTrump path, his career could have been finished as well.

Well, it’s not as if he hadn’t been warned. No one fought harder FOR Levin than Freepers. Was he this different from the ‘base’ all this time?? Probably.

We have just been served up a special soufflé of populism delivered by one of America's most effective demagogues, Elizabeth Warren.

How did you like it?

Like the problem with socialism populism ceases to work when you run out of other people's money and the entire speech by Elizabeth Warren can be seen as a search for more of other people's money. Our problem is that she is nowhere close to exhausting the sources of other people's money in America, there is so much more good she can do. The problem, as well, is that a lot of people are buying what she is selling. She is inciting a mob which she defines as much more than 90% of the populace against a minority which she describes as being 1/10 of one percent. If Elizabeth Warren had been nominated instead of Hillary Clinton, we would be in full retreat mode.

Elizabeth Warren's populism is not different in kind from Bernie Sanders socialism or Hillary Clinton's opportunism; it matters not what label you put on it, it matters whether there is a standard against which it can be held accountable, a standard which forces a halt to the insatiable search for other people's money.

Warren, Sanders, Clinton all have varying emphasis but they are at the end of the day all free ranging confiscators of other people's property, free ranging because the limits on their ability to confiscate exist only at the place where they exhaust popular support. So long as they have the mob, they have the power. If you want to know where the limits of mob tyranny are, examine the history of Venezuela.

Populism is a path toward tyranny of the majority. Constitutionalism is our only salvation. Our Framers who seem to be out-of-favor even in this forum with neo-populists certainly knew that, the French Revolution confirmed that, we forget it at our peril.

I didn’t watch it. And not being a fool I don’t conflate the populism of the Elizabeth Warren crowd with that which is found among Trump supporters- I’ll leave that not so clever game to diehard Trump critics like yourself.

Yeah...that was all yesterday. Today, he has lost his mind. The man needs mental help. At the very least, anger management therapy. I use to be his biggest fan...no longer. Ever since he entered self-destruction mode.

Your defense of Levin is a perfect explanation for why so many on this thread used to love him. Nobody is denying the Mark Levin you describe existed, in fact, there is a nearly universal premise to each testimonial that he was the favorite, that he was indispensable, that people went out of their way to listen each day,

Yes, there are a few comments about him having a shrill or whiney voice. Most of us liked it when his voice would get high or when he would treat a caller with a certain deserved contempt and hang up on him. It was refreshing to hear his unwillingness to suffer fools. (That aspect of Levin actually reminds me of Trump). One commenter on this thread mentions being bothered by Levin’s occasional innuendos about Southerners - that occasionally bothered me too.

Other than those few criticisms, Levin was almost universally adored by the people on this thread and other FR threads regarding Mark Levin. I don’t think there is any basis for your suspicion that the people criticizing Levin never really listened to him - they clearly used to, but have lost respect due to his stubborn and Hillary-enabling contempt for Trump. It is this sudden about face of ardent Levin fans from needing to listen to hours of Levin daily to not being able to listen, and it’s root cause (antiTrump) that you are failing to acknowledge.

I can’t speak for others, but please don’t doubt my past admiration for Levin and my heartbreak at the loss of him as a conservative mentor now that I am unable to listen to him. I still try and as one FReeper mentioned, it takes only a few minutes before I feel the sting of Levin’s rebuke - the insult of Levin’s direct or implied charge that I must be ignorant of basic economic principles, not a true conservative or worse, if I do not share his contempt for Trump and admiration of Cruz.

I received my masters in macro economics at Temple, my favorite professor being none other than the real great one, Walter Williams. I am an educated conservative, I do support Trump, who is not perfect, and if I want to be ridiculed for supporting Trump, believe me there are many places I can go to receive my daily dose of insults. It makes me so sad that Levin considers me a moron.

What I really can’t reconcile is how for Mark Levin, Mitt Romney and other neverTrumps, it’s only the specter of a Trump presidency that causes them to say “never!”, “this is unthinkable!” “How will I explain to my granddaughter how Trump could become President and I stood by and did nothing to stop it!” They simply did not express the same horror at the prospect of Obama or Clinton becoming president. Do they not realize how this looks?

What a crock this #neverTrump sentiment is, and yes Levin is guilty of it. If there was any truth to Trump’s supposed lack of conservatism it would have manifested by now, and we’d have a liberal platform at the convention and Trump would already be rushing to the left. He’s not, and Trump and his supporters are owed a big fat apology from you neverTrumps. Including the once great one, Mark Levin.

Ronald Reagan made an interesting observation when he described his separation from the Democrat Party.

In response to your thread that got pulled:

- - -

He’s an idiot. And Bob Grant would agree.

The day after Trump’s acceptance speech, Trump was prompted to comment on the petulant one, Cruz. Trump gave a typical Trump response. But naturally, Levin was apoplectic, groaning on and on about Trump’s immaturity and obsession... quite ironic.
