Your defense of Levin is a perfect explanation for why so many on this thread used to love him. Nobody is denying the Mark Levin you describe existed, in fact, there is a nearly universal premise to each testimonial that he was the favorite, that he was indispensable, that people went out of their way to listen each day,
Yes, there are a few comments about him having a shrill or whiney voice. Most of us liked it when his voice would get high or when he would treat a caller with a certain deserved contempt and hang up on him. It was refreshing to hear his unwillingness to suffer fools. (That aspect of Levin actually reminds me of Trump). One commenter on this thread mentions being bothered by Levin’s occasional innuendos about Southerners - that occasionally bothered me too.
Other than those few criticisms, Levin was almost universally adored by the people on this thread and other FR threads regarding Mark Levin. I don’t think there is any basis for your suspicion that the people criticizing Levin never really listened to him - they clearly used to, but have lost respect due to his stubborn and Hillary-enabling contempt for Trump. It is this sudden about face of ardent Levin fans from needing to listen to hours of Levin daily to not being able to listen, and it’s root cause (antiTrump) that you are failing to acknowledge.
I can’t speak for others, but please don’t doubt my past admiration for Levin and my heartbreak at the loss of him as a conservative mentor now that I am unable to listen to him. I still try and as one FReeper mentioned, it takes only a few minutes before I feel the sting of Levin’s rebuke - the insult of Levin’s direct or implied charge that I must be ignorant of basic economic principles, not a true conservative or worse, if I do not share his contempt for Trump and admiration of Cruz.
I received my masters in macro economics at Temple, my favorite professor being none other than the real great one, Walter Williams. I am an educated conservative, I do support Trump, who is not perfect, and if I want to be ridiculed for supporting Trump, believe me there are many places I can go to receive my daily dose of insults. It makes me so sad that Levin considers me a moron.
What I really can’t reconcile is how for Mark Levin, Mitt Romney and other neverTrumps, it’s only the specter of a Trump presidency that causes them to say “never!”, “this is unthinkable!” “How will I explain to my granddaughter how Trump could become President and I stood by and did nothing to stop it!” They simply did not express the same horror at the prospect of Obama or Clinton becoming president. Do they not realize how this looks?
What a crock this #neverTrump sentiment is, and yes Levin is guilty of it. If there was any truth to Trump’s supposed lack of conservatism it would have manifested by now, and we’d have a liberal platform at the convention and Trump would already be rushing to the left. He’s not, and Trump and his supporters are owed a big fat apology from you neverTrumps. Including the once great one, Mark Levin.
Well said.
Excellent. Great summary of this psychotic Trump hate by the nevertrump gang.
