Tactical Use of the AR-15
AShooting Journal ^ | 7/21/2016 | J Hines

Everybody has an AR because of its reliability, durability and flexibility. Besides owning a shotgun an AR is the next best thing for a home defense.

This video highlights Richard Nance (GunsandAmmo Editor) and Dave Spaulding (Handgun Combatives) discussing tactics and techniques using an AR-15 which any lawful citizen can learn.

They talk about best ways to enter and clear a room while not extending your AR out there. But if you do there are some weapon retention methods that can be used to retain your AR. See the video here. How bout you all, do you use your AR-15 for home defense?

So are my neighbors.

Noted genius and gun advocate Joe Biden suggests getting a double-barrel shotgun and making “blam! blam!!” noises.

Yeah, firing a couple of rounds off the deck from a double-barrel shotgun is to essentially make a lot of noise and turn your firearm into a club until you have ample opportunity to put a couple more rounds in it.

I have eight or ten that bed down just over the fence from my back deck. Some of them have calves right now. They’re usually quiet, unless the bull across the street starts courtin’

Is that the vid where they fire the 9 from about 5 or 6 inches away?

Five inches or 10 feet, it won't loose much velocity over such a short room sized distance.

Though useful as a direct 90 degree penetration test, a test with oblique panels and a few 2x4 studs might better illustrate the devastating power of a tumbling .556 round. As I said in my earlier comment, Once they start tumbling there’s enough inertia at that speed where you can’t predict where they will wind up. The more glancing penetration of obstacles the greater the variant.

Federal used to make a expanding full metal jacket cartridge. Looks like they still do but under the "Guard Dog" brand.

These are similar to the ones I use but are loaded out by Winchester. The bullets may well be Federal bullets
