Cops are going to be even more paranoid than ever-not that I can blame them.

I never get pulled over but if I do, my hands are going on the the dash and I won’t move a muscle.

Smart. Listen to the officer and do what he/she says. It is not that tough. These so called innocents who were shot damn sure did not have both hands in plain sight.

We have to be concerned about an unstoppable downward spiral. Retirements ASAP, the good cops getting out of inner cities, and the lack of talented young recruits will leave dangerous urban environments with even worse protection. Inner cities that drive away the talented police are going to have to set up their own police forces or become shooting zones where the residents kill each other and no one else is involved.

It can only get worse as more people, both police and citizens are on edge. What happens when BLM gets some ISIS trained talent to join their ranks?

I saw a suggestion online yesterday which I implemented. Most cars have a place of the sun visors where papers can be stored. If there isn't one, create one. Put auto registration and insurance coverage card in it. That was, there's no reaching down or fumbling around to get ID.

My heart goes out to those Dallas Police and their loved ones. Odds are they were folks who had nothing to do with bad policing. It always works that way.

I have a simple little drill I practice in my head, then use when I get pulled over (although I pretty much always drive the speed limit any more).

Pull well off the road, where possible. Put the car in Park, engine off. Put Hazard lights on. Turn on interior light so the officer can see me. Roll the window down in advance, as a courtesy (unless it's really cold). Both hands on the wheel until the officer is at my door. When they ask to see any identification, I tell them what I'm reaching for, and where it is (license - back pocket, registration, glove box). This isn't rocket science.
