Yeah, I have the 6920. I have no problems with the fore-end, but I’d like to know how that AFG2 is working out for you.
Does it interfere with the break-down of the upper to clear jams and the like ?
That’s my last straw moment with the AR 4 years ago. At a 2 gun competition, I forgot the mags for the Mini14 so I borrowed an AR. At the beginning of the stage, the timer starts and I smack the magazine in.... upside down. Well it stuck and I had to pop the top to push it out. (Steel mag, of course)
my surefire is low-lumen. The bright lights close my cornea too quickly and recovery takes a few seconds. The dim light allows for a comprehensive sweep of an interior room but only gets eyes to reflect on animals outside.
And thanks for the opinion on the M4 stock. My search for the perfect stock continues then.
I put the AFG2 very far forward on my SureFire M73 carbine-length rail. No issues on breakdown because it’s so far forward. Still getting used to it, since I was using an overwrap grip before, but this positions my thumb for my light and doesn’t stress y wrist.
Have you tried the MagPul CTR?
Similar t the MOE but the locking lever really cinches things up. It’s pretty solid even without locking it down.
The CTR is what I have. It’s decent, it doesn’t fail or anything it just shakes rattles and rolls. I have a problem with collapsing / folding things like that because they just stink of junk everytime I touch them. That’s why I was thinking of a fixed stock.
I’ve been considering one of those “minimalist” stocks as well. I’ve also thought about the NY/CT/CA compliant stocks... the ones without the pistol grip. They are super comfy but I feel like a traitor when I even look at one.
I’ve been thinking of crafting up myself lately as well. A buffer tube cover, and a shoulder crescent set to one length. I’ve also been thinking of just leaving it alone (I’m not a soldier) and just stripping the stock from the buffer tube if the SHTF or it’s WROL... you know, more than it is now.
I fired a pistol length once and it was neat. The buffer tube on the back with a simple rubberized cover did the trick. It’s not like it’s holding back 30-06 recoils here.
