I witnessed a similar near panic, in the eyes of my grade school teachers, when Reagan was elected. They genuinely thought the ‘cowboy’ Reagan was going to get us all killed...and they were very upset.
Reminds me of the Japanese woman who throws her baby off a cliff, during WWII, because she believed American GI’s would eat it.
I can only comment in haikus today. Here is the one spurred by your experience:
Frothing and bleating
Hill supporters have their tag:
Useful Idiots
I so can’t wait to have the DNC hand over their nominee’s name to state secretaries and then challenge it on grounds that Bill Clinton is forbidden from another term in the White House, and their home state treats the marriage unit as one, even extending marital privilege in court.
Wonder if Hillary will file the response or serve Billy with divorce papers first?
Most excellent observation!
Great observations and thanks for even engaging such a demonstrative loon. I’ve had similar online engagements with my cousin’s wifey in Pennsylvania. Both he and she are smart folks, teachers mind you. But they’ve bought into the unionist dogma and the Barack Obama worship and nobody, I say NOBODY is going to criticize BHO and get away with it. They have invested and they know their investment in BHO has meant a negative return on their capital (if they even believe in capital). They’ll defend their negative returns to the death.
Yes they are the enemy.
The technique you describe is not new. Look at the commie left through out its history and you will see the same thing...from the French Revolution onward. With the media playing it for all its worth, and the 24 hour news cycle it will only get worse
Our solution is simple....Get out the vote. Get out the vote
[ Something very, very weird is going on. I saw it with my own eyes today. ]
Pretty much like talking to any Obama supporter the first 5-6 years. They truly wanted to believe in their “messiah”.
It’s the spirit of antichrist. Only thing that explains such bizarre behavior.
I’d love for someone to call me a Fox News Republican.
“Nope. I don’t have cable. On occasion I’ll watch a few minutes in the morning if I’m at a hotel. I’ve never watched an entire episode of any of their hosts. I make up my own mind on what I believe based upon reading about an issue from several sources.
So, just where did you get the term Fox News Republican?
Huh?”
I have people like this in my own family.
It is not worth it to engage with them.
Do not talk politics with certain people. They are irrational and completely unhinged.
These certain people view any disagreement with them on practically any subject, not necessarily political, as a personal threat against them, so react like a cornered animal. They think if you disagree with them you hate them and are out to do them personal bodily harm. In fact I simply pity them.
Completely mentally deranged.
Who are the biggest manufacturers of antidepressant and antipsychotic drugs? I think it’s time to do some investing.....
Notice the State Department isn't defending her any more.
But if you encounter a Hillary supporter why they like her failed wars (Libya and Syria) and why they like the Terrorists being imported with the immegrants. Surely they love Terrorists by disarming us and hate gays for the same reason. After all a "Gun Free Zone" is seen by them as a shooting gallery.
So I take it you know this woman?
Wish you had recorded it. :)
They are very afraid and they should be. But I say if you confront someone like this call for the guys with the net and straight jacket. Have them hauled off to the nut house.
I do feel that these people need to be engaged though, because some of these people can be helped. I firmly believe that if Trump wins there will be suicides, and that is a tragedy because the people manipulating them don't care about them.
You’re right that such rapid fire, bombastic “debate” tactics dehumanize people, and you’re right to assess they come from a feeling of panic. Don’t fall into the same trap though.
“So don’t be fooled by the wild-eyed maniac in front of you - they’ve sat in training sessions. They’ve memorized talking points and practiced their deliveries. Yes, her. Yes, him. The mild-mannered neighbor, the casual acquaintance, the workers you know, family members - all of them. THIS is how Hillary’s money is being used: mind and behavior control.”
No. This is itself “dehumanizing”. No one is “sitting in on training sessions” learning about “mind control” techniques. Again, such beliefs only further dehumanize leftist/conservative interactions.
They are just people like the rest of us. I know it’s fashionable (on FR) to describe them in inhuman terms like “demons” and “robots” and certainly many display such traits from time to time but they aren’t less human than we are. Bottom line they use the rapid fire debate technique because it works. And that’s all they’ve ever leanrned. I’ve met plenty of “conservatives” who debate the same way too though and I’m not talking about on FR.
Lay out a slew of talking points, call you “communist” if you disagree and suggest immediate self deportation as the remedy. This is no better than the inanity you described from your leftist associate. And no one is taking courses on mind control.
The best way to counter such behavior is to do exactly what you did, attempt reasonable discourse and when/if that doesn’t work just let the loon make a fool of herself. Exactly like you did.
Just leave the conspiracy theories about their tactics on the Internet. It’s dehumanizing. And thus destructive.
Why were you wasting time like that? Oh, and that was quite an insult to bats...
