No, men should not always pay for dates. Nor should they open the door or help a lady get her coat on
Gentlemen, however, do all of those things. They get nice dates, have nice lives, marry good women and have self respect and the respect of their friends and families
No self respecting lady wastes her time with goof us when gallant is around. Even when he’s not, no.
My wife has paid for the last 30 years at least; when they come to the table with the check I just tell them to “give it to her, I just earn it, she gets to spend it”.
I don’t question what my wife spends, or what she wants to spend it on, she has paid all the bills for the last 42 years. I trust her implicitly to act in the best interests of OUR FAMILY.
I never carry more than 20 dollars in cash, and only have two credit cards for gas only.
Yes
A real man sure as hell does.
Y’all have separate credit cards?
Do you mind if I ask what age roughly you are?
Kids?
What region of America?
I’m not flaming you just testing perspectives
My kind of woman
God bless you
You know my answer without having to ask I’m sure
None of women ever paid even my heiress lover in the early 80s but we did enjoy her families cool digs around the world
My wife only pays if I don’t have my wallet and it’s our debit card from my family business I built that she will own in total when I die
She can divvy to the kids etc per my wishes
And I know she’ll honor that
Women I loved or lived with did pay for something like groceries and utilities in pre kids days
You’re southern hon
This is not much of conundrum down here
This woman pays for dates is more common in mandal wearing no makeup no toenail polish women land

Why would a guy want to be with a woman anyways?
He is asking for trouble. There is no positive benefit. She is going to sock it to him eventually. Women hate men.
Exactly. I never went lib either. I liked it when the man did the chasing & paid for the date.
Of course, I also like it when men change tires & hold doors open.
There are arenas in which we can be equals, ie in business, but you also have to respect biology.
No, the man and woman should either each pay for his/her own separate costs (drinks, etc.) or they should split the total bill right down the middle.
That is the only fair solution.
HOWEVER, any man who does that ain't gettin' a second date.

Those places where you have to shout your order at a giant plastic clown's head?

And the other way around? Shouldn't men also be adored and cared for? Why not? Aren't we worth being adored and cared for?
And is it appropriate to adore and care for a woman on a first date? If so, what is the appropriate reciprocal response of the woman?
"Thank you very much for showing that you adore and care for women! In doing so, you showed sacrifice and utmost respect. And I, in turn, will..." What?

The man that invented auto-correct has died.
May he restaurant in peace.
It is said that “great minds think alike”. Therefore, I am compelled to agree with you.
The man has to pay for your company? Isnt there a name for that?
I took a woman out to dinner who had also worked at PBS in Austin. I should have known better but she was definitely not guilty.
Anyway, being a “liberated woman”, at the end she offered to pay for her half. She suggested I give her cash for my half and she would use her credit card for the full amount.
As I watched (joyfully, I might add), she fumbled around and around trying to delay. I knew she was a phony and only wanted to “offer” to pay her half.
It was quite gratifying to see her realize I called her bluff.
I footed it while dating - now it's ours vs mine or hers so she ended up paying after all....
I don’t like to give my age, so I will just say that our two sons are in their 30s. We’re on the east coast now, but we’ve moved around a bit.
And yes, we have separate credit cards.
