Retired U.S. Army Gen. David Petraeus, who has long resisted calls to run for political office, is teaming up with retired NASA astronaut Mark Kelly to create a new group urging greater gun control.

The two announced on Friday that they were launching Veterans Coalition for Common Sense to encourage elected leaders to "do more to prevent gun tragedies." The group will feature veterans from every branch of the military who are urging lawmakers to toughen gun laws, the organization said in a news release.

"As service members, each of us swore an oath to protect our Constitution and the homeland. Now we're asking our leaders to do more to protect our rights and save lives," said Kelly, the husband of former Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and co-founder of Americans for Responsible Solutions, a group that advocates for tougher gun laws.

"Gabby and I are grateful to all of these incredible veterans and leaders who are using their voice to call for commonsense change that makes our communities safer," he added. Petraeus isn't quoted in the release....

I do. He was just at the Bilderberg conference. He's one of them.

As folks are showing, you cannot impose universal world government unless you suppress the means to resist it. Indeed, look at Brexit.

BS. When one moves to ‘control’ another’s right to self-defense, the Constitution is in effect overthrown.

Stick to the hanky-panky with your mistress Petraeus, it’s the only thing you’re fit for.

He must have a different constitution than the one I have...

""As service members, each of us swore an oath to protect our Constitution and the homeland. ..."

Since they’ve sworn to protect the Constitution, it would probably be a good idea if they read it.

A big problem with working gun control though the feds is that the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate civilian arms.

In fact, a previous generation of state sovereignty-respecting justices had clarified that powers not delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate civilian arms in this example, are prohibited to the feds.

”From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added].” —United States v. Butler, 1936.

The reason that federal laws regulating civilian arms are in the books is because the FDR era federal government made all kinds of unconstitutonal laws, including gun laws, which blatantly ignore the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers.

This see-sucker Kelly has been on Jeopardy often either as a contestant or a clue-reader since becoming a prominent gun-grabber.

Petraus is a globalist. He is currently Chairman of the KKR Global Institute since 2013 and attending the Bildeberg meeting right now in Dusseldorf Germany.

Trump was completely wrong when he said that Petreus was ruined by the secret leaks. The powers that be don’t care about that minor stuff.

Ping....

Betrayus is pulling a Roberts! The 0b0z0 intimidation is at its peak. Hitlery is certainly another threatened high official by a long jail sentence for a very valid reason; treason.

I really wonder about Comey; he’s already under attack. Would he weather the storm or succumb.

Good question.
