So my colleague and I were catching up after not seeing each other for a while.
She’s just accepted a new position as an administrator at the community college up the street from where I work. I wanted to welcome her to the neighborhood and her new job.
We arranged to meet at a Starbucks in between our two institutions on Capitol Hill in Seattle. We talked for maybe 30 or 40 minutes. It’s the kind of innocuous catch-up talk that two college administrators do when we’re trying to figure out what we’ve been up to since we last talked.
My awareness of the incident, as I later explained it to the police officer who took my statement, started with me realizing that my right hand was wet.
We were in a Starbucks and there was lots of liquid around. My cortical brain told me that most likely someone spilled something. But then, I heard someone behind me say something that sounded like, “f*****g n****r b***h.”
My brain needed a new explanation. I turned and realized that a young, white man in his early 20s behind me, neatly dressed with short-cropped hair with a dark-colored backpack, was directing this statement at my colleague.
As I turned to face him, he said, “That’s right, f*****g n*****r b***h” again. He walked to the door and walked out. The incident didn’t really register with me, even as he walked out.

I live on a mountain top on the Olympic Peninsula, so I seldom see Seattle. I am white and there aren’t more than about a dozen Blacks that live in my county, so my interaction is very limited. Thank you for your experienced/input.

What anyone sitting around was supposed to do is questionable. They were likely as surprised as the victim; and he did turn around and walk out.

Anyway, the reason I believe I can prove this story is BS, at least to my satisfaction, is that nowhere in the entire article does anyone mention how bizarre it is that this incident happened at all.
When was the last time anything like this happened anywhere, like in a small town in the south, or anywhere at all. And Seattle???

So now she will live her life to “straighten out” racist whitey and piss more whites off. How many whites have been beaten by mobs of blacks and no one said a word or stepped in to help? Not even the police, in many cases.
She needs to clean up her own back yard if she wants a post racial society - which she does not really want. She wants white submission to her moral superiority and all she will get is whites seeing race in a negative light. Tribalism is like a dog chasing it’s tail.

The perp in this case was obviously a mentally ill individual.
The author actually tips her hand by repeating in different ways that the offenses didn’t even “register” with her at first. In other words, it was not normal behavior for a young white male in Starbucks to throw “liquids” at someone, or use the disgusting racial epithets described.
In fact, the events described were so unusual that the author’s first reactions were of disbelief.
If racism were so all-pervasive and common in our society, she would have come to expect this sort of thing on a daily basis.
Anyway, that is what I gleaned from this article. Just My Humble opinion.
As somebody who grew up in the sixties, and who was actively involved in the Civil Rights Movement even as a teenager, I can truthfully say that I had observed racism in America nearly eradicated up to 2008, and then increase exponentially as the current occupants of the White House have turned the clock back 50 years with their baiting and evil rhetoric. (sigh)
