Read your personal page, very informative. I found it fascinating that John Adams differentiated between the importance of God, and not the importance of Religion, which after all is an invention of man.

Thanks for all you said. That page has been a handy place to keep the stuff I've found while out looking for clues.

I had a similar experience with John Adams. I was looking for things that spoke to the FF's Judeo-Christian faith and found this quote first:

This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it.
~ John Adams
In reading that, I jumped to a conclusion, but then finding this quote helped to clarify his thoughts and meaning for me:
There is no such thing as human wisdom; all is the providence of God.
~ John Adams
Religion, as opposed to the "primitive church", and getting away from the men who were busy inventing it, was much of the original point for inventing, and then coming to, America.

The FFs were an impressive group. It's a shame to let such a resource go to waste.
