It is said that Donald Trump hasn't been outrageous for a while

The Washington Examiner’s Byron York notes that it has been two weeks since Donald Trump has done or said something particularly outrageous, such as attack his opponent’s wife. He ascribes this to the inclusion of Paul Manafort, a seasoned political professional who helped Gerald Ford beat back a challenge by Ronald Reagan at the 1976 Republic National Convention. Of course, Manafort started his tenure as part of Team Trump by Godwin sizing himself when he accused the Ted Cruz Campaign of using “Gestapo tactics” in winning delegates to his side, especially in states like Colorado and now Wyoming. Cruz has also made sure that a large number of Trump delegates will switch sides after the first ballot at the convention.

“Slimy Cruz started that whole wife/family attack dirty tactic business by posting a revealing photo of Donald’s wife from back in her modeling days.”

It does appear that Cruz learned his lesson regarding the Clinton tactic of using third parties to PERSONALLY ATTACK opponents, as it hasn’t happened since - probably because Trump didn’t respond as expected (i.e., as every other Republican would respond) by trying to respond to ghosts - instead Trump attacked the person responsible.

As to anyone that might say that Cruz’s people (if not Cruz himself) didn’t sign off on the attack, they simply have NO IDEA how Washington works - no one launches an attack at that level without coordinating, legal or not, as the risks are simply too high (not to mention the need for the supported candidate to be ready to respond).

As it is, seems like water under the bridge now. Cruz knows that Trump could SERIOUSLY LAUNCH into his wife, so it appears he’s back to talking about issues.

I like your post and your tagline!

Trump does control the narrative. Trump is KILLING Cruz and the establishment he’s in bed with using what’s happening in CO, WY and elsewhere.

Let Me Ask America a Question - Donald J Trump
http://www.wsj.com/articles/let-me-ask-america-a-question-1460675882

Plus he talking about it in every rally speech, interview and press conference. His RSBN youtube rally videos have been viewed 1.6 million times since Colorado. His tweets reach 7 million, his facebook posts 7 million.

Pretty much what I predicted;

Obama has ‘class’. How’s that worked out? Heidi is a corporate-political-co-president type. That’s not my preference.

“Trump isn’t even president and he’s driving the narrative and blowing the lid off all kinds of nefarious doings. No wonder the powers that be are running scared and acting increasingly desperate.”

That’s what I like about Trump. Not that it has any effect on Cruz
nor should it but it does drive the right narrative. He should have never let this race get personal. He should
have went the rout of the statesman and stuck with the
issues. I’m sure Cruz would have fallowed suit.

But he didn’t and a Cruz/Trump or Trump/Cruz ticket would
have been unbeatable. Whoever actually started this fight
took care of that either intentionally or not.

That’s a lie and you know it. Cruz had no connection with that ad.

But it is a FACT that sleazy tough guy Trump attacked Heidi Cruz from his Twitter account.

“...such as attack his opponent’s wife.”

However, his opponent’s wife has attacked him.

Yes, while at first blush it might seem that moderation of Trump’s incendiary rhetoric might be to his advantage, the problem is that Trump has gotten where he is by stoking anger and resentment. When the focus becomes more on his actual policy positions and statements, it’s not good for him.

But it is a FACT that Trump’s wife was attacked by a sleazy Cruz PAC.

Would you not stand up for your wife?

Many of his supporters have been advising him to get off social media and focus on issues

After the Heidi Cruz retweet he seems to have done that, big time
Oh there’s still a bit of color with his Lyin Ted meme and just the occasional “ get him out of here” to an agitator, but his speeches are a lot more powerful, for those who honestly listen to them

He’s hitting it out of the park in NY
It will be another watershed in his evolution to political leader when he starts getting national security briefings and becomes aware of what is happening

Of course, if Trump did not tone down his act, you’d take the position that Trump does not have the temperament to be president.

That is a very interesting point

The establishment positioning itself to not be broadsided by the secrets kept by Bush after 911, about Saudi complicity

You mean like’s happened in the past 3 weeks when he noticeably shifted course and tune to hammer on issues?

Even the emergence of the ugly truths about gop back room politics at the grass roots level has now become an issue

What issues has Trump “hammered on” the last 3 weeks, other than calling Cruz a dirty, lying cheater?

It wasn’t a Cruz PAC. All the Trumpers said the proof would be coming out and offered a “tweet” as “proof”. Weeks later, still no proof. The Trumpers made it all up.

Note to your tough guy trump. You don’t stand up for your wife by attacking the wife of someone not associated with the insult. It shows Trump’s immaturity and impulsive nature (at age 69) and why he is ill-suited to be president.

.He’s trying to rein in his rhetoric because everyone other the trump faithful is tired of his act, he has been whining trying to play the victim.

This is especially pathetic since he was supposed to the the great executive who knows how to build winning orgs and the guy who understands the art of the deal. Well that charade has been exposed so he has reverted to his liberal instincts and complains about fairness like he’s bernie sanders or something.

______________________

Donald IS a brilliant businessman/CEO who knows how to run things. He has made billions by using his wits and ‘know how’.
He knows how run this country. He will get things done, for he is not PC crippled and not afraid to say what needs to be said, and attack/clean out the corrupt.
He has been the ONLY one with the guts to speak the truth- and not back down. The ONLY one.

He will surround himself with equally brilliant people to restore this country to its former greatness via his cabinet and advisors.

Cruz, when you factor in his immense unlikeability, his bizarre religion, his Senate attendance record, his various lies and dirty campaign tricks, inexperience, his voting record, obvious GOPe support- NOT TO MENTION HE WAS BORN IN CANADA!), Cruz CANNOT beat either Hillary or Bernie.
He CANNOT- no matter how much be bloviates about being a Constitutional lawyer and all his ‘glorious constitutional defense achievements’.
No matter the usual empty promises, He CANNOT win.
They will make a laughing stock of the junior senator from Texas.
THEY WILL RIP TED CRUZ TO SHREDS!

As far as ‘Liberal instincts’. He was at one time a Democrat, just like Reagan. He has a right to change his opinion. Why can’t the Cruzbot get over that?
