Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump listed a few of his fellow 2016 rivals as possible running mates in an interview published Monday.

Speaking to columnist Kirsten Powers, Trump spoke favorably about Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) who he famously feuded with before defeating him in his home state....

“There are people I have in mind in terms of vice president. I just haven’t told anybody names,” he said. “[I] do like Marco. I do like (John) Kasich. … I like (Scott) Walker actually in a lot of ways. I hit him very hard. … But I’ve always liked him.”

Rubio and Walker: yea, maybe.

John Kasick: NO! (But I'm not saying he's useless. He would make a wonderful Postmaster General)

Trump should look south or west for a Veep. But not Rubio.

His very hard hit on Walker was described by Sykes as weapon-grade stupid. Only 2 I can think of who would be willing should he win 1237 are Carson and Huckabee.

Kasich would make it more likely for Trump to win in November

Yes, think of all the Democrat crossover votes that ticket would draw. It would be like having Hillary Clinton in the VP spot minus the Benghazi and e-mail scandals. Of course there is that question about Kasich being Gary Condit's wing-man at sex parties, but who knows. To Democrats that would be an added qualification for the number two spot.

Walker:
“I literally just heard it in the car, and I laughed,” he told Politico. “It’s interesting to hear that after the things that were said about me a couple weeks ago. But I’m focused on being the governor of the state of Wisconsin. That’s not even on my radar, and it certainly wouldn’t be with ... I guess I was shocked more than anything to hear that.”

As if that weren’t clear enough, Walker also said he “can’t even fathom” being on a ticket with Trump and called the mere possibility “breathtaking.” So it looks like Trump will be going with one of his other choices, although it’s hard to imagine a man he’s dubbed “liddle” will be eager to serve as his second-in-command.

Well it appears that all that sucking up Chris Christie did following his withdrawal from the race didn’t do him any good.

I can’t fathom it either. I can’t really picture any decent candidate being on a ticket with Trump.

He needs someone who knows how to work the system in washington—Rubio or Kasich would be good choices. Never Cruz—he has shown his true colors and they aint nice.

Walker is the only one of the three who would be a decent pick. Rubio is an empty suit and Kasich is a walking punchline.

Think “NEXT PRESIDENT” when you think about Trump’s VP. We need a President to follow Trump who will go a long way towards finishing what Trump starts - by far the greatest political need in America: implementing the dismantling of the tyranny of the unconstitutional portion of the $4 trillion federal government which is which would mean cutting at least 80% of the feds. Either we get them or they’re gonna get us.

Don’t know who will be willing to do that, but I think Walker or Cruz would be closer than Rubio or Kasich.

I do like (John) Kasich.

More proof that Trump is just another liberal. He fakes to the right during the primary, and will veer far left once he wins the nomination.

Agree on Rubio, but Kasich could well serve as Trump's Biden. Trump has said he wants someone with political experience who can work with Congress. Kasich fits that bill. Kasich on the ticket would also help tremendously in OH and other swing states in November. But most importantly, Kasich is exactly the sort of dull functionary that is needed to offset Trump's outsized personality. He may be the butt of jokes but he isn't going to upstage Trump.

VP selection doesn't follow normal logic and if anything Trump is a pragmatist. He'll do what needs to be done to get the job done.

Rubio would bring the most to the conservatives as Trump's VP.

Rubio couldn't be bothered to show up to the Senate half the time, saying that it bored him and that he's destined for greater things. I can only imagine what an insufferable pr*ck Rubio would be as someone's VP. Maybe VP wouldn't be good enough for his majesty either?

You make a good point - Trump needs someone with experience working with the House and Senate, as well as someone who can help deliver an important swing state. Calling Kasich lackluster is being generous, but Walker doesn’t know the ins and outs of Washington as Kasich does (plus delivering Wisconsin is less important than Ohio), while Rubio is disliked in Florida and has nothing to bring to the table except his own vanity and laziness.

The excitementm fear, anger, amusement, whatever, over Donald's veep statement is rather fruitless.

Trump has no intention of naming Rubio, Kasich or Walker as his veep. Throwing these names out is a canny political strategy, one that I would do myself.

Donald still has many, many popular votes to pick up in the coming months. If the disappointed followers of Rubio, Kasich and Walker feel that their heroes may have another shot at glory by being tapped for veep in a Trump administration, why...they might just throw their considerable amounts of votes for the Donald in their various primaries.

The names of Rubio, Kasich and Walker weren't thrown out there just for the helluvit. It was a planned, smart move by the Trump campaign.
