I used to think of myself as more or less a conservative, but if Cruz is the epitome of conservatives then I must be something else.

whatever one’s opinions about Cruz’s politics, policies, campaign, opinions, personality, tactics, experience, or whatever else....only a brain-dead moron could/would call him “dumb”.

Coming from the UK, where “conservatives” don’t exist.

Must be.

Wow, a STUPID blog post by some random anonymous fool who likely has an IQ two standard deviations BELOW Ted Cruz’ IQ — and the anonymous fool claims Cruz is stupid.

It’s telling that you not only posted this screed, but apparently actually believe it.

Adopting the term “conservative” was a mistake in the first place. What are the conserving? Conservatives don’t even know. From a marketing perspective is a poor choice - it is a term a loser picks as it does not signal positive action. The Republicans should have just called themselves the “Bad Brakes” party because they only seem to slow things down and they cannot steer us in a different direction. The GOP is satisfied by playing gatekeeper and getting paid to stand out of the way of every theft of freedom. They are playing pimp to us whores.

The term “conservative” has lost its meaning, being hijacked by the same political and financial interests that infiltrate and subvert every other ideological group.

Yeah, I realize Ted Cruz is nowhere near as brilliant or accomplished as say Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama, both of whom have thick resumes and impeccable records.

Cruz will just be another Bush clone, so he won’t be awful.

But, we’ll never know, because if he can’t beat Trump, then he sure as heck can’t beat Clinton.

Show me a Republican who doesn’t claim to be conservative. Today it’s a word without any clear meaning.

Someone needs to educate the moron that wrote that article about the term naturalized. Ted Cruz was not naturalized because he was a citizen at birth.

If Cruz is the best candidate they can find, then conservatives obviously have nothing to offer.

the candidate and the principles of conservatism are two separate issues that should not be conflated

I am no longer a conservative.

Others have decided to define my beliefs and when I did not meet their definition they revoked my conservative card.

Funny, I feel liberated that I no longer have to worry about how a real true blue conservative should think or feel. I can now look at a candidate and decide if they best represent my beliefs (knowing none are going to match perfectly).

Thank you CONSERVATIVES for making my life easier.

I’m inclined to agree with the conclusion. I think the conservative movement in the USA hasn’t moved since the late 1990s. After impeachment of Clinton didn’t work out. the GOPers in Congress decided to just enable the white liberal elite. This was punctuated in 2002 and came to a boil by 2006, when they got their heads handed to them and shown the door of Congress.

That made Obamacare possible.

While conservative voters gave them a chance in 2010 and 2014, we found out it was for nothing. They were in the business of talk, not results.

Conservatives are still beleivers, though they have no vessel for their values and policies. It’s going to be a long time before the ship docks again - I’m thinking the 2060s or 2070s. Between now and then, expect liberal ascension and dominance, and take whatever conservative victories we can get.
