The Cuban Mistress Crisis: what are its short and long term effects?

Like everyone who cares about the survival of America instead of the survival of the Republican Party and the jobs of a few hundred leeches in and around Washington, I carefully weigh each new bit of news regarding the candidates.

I am a Donald Trump supporter so I am concerned with what happens on the Republican side of the arena. The Democrat side has its own problems as they are running headlong toward nominating either a Communist or a Felon with an indictment hanging over her head.

The most important news this past week was the revelation that Ted Cruz has had at least five and may even eight mistresses during the recent past. After the initial explosion over this story, those who have supported Cruz have been largely silent and content to change the subject. Mark Levin-who very often tweets six times a day-was silent these past few days.

Others who regularly tweet both famous and ordinary people have either withdrawn from the fight or turned on Cruz.

The Washington Times reporter who publicly confirmed at least two of the affairs has been fired but still stands by his story.

It is fair to say a few things about what is being called the CUBAN MISTRESS CRISIS...

1. Why was $500k given by a Cruz Pac to his rival, Fiorina, in June of 2015?

2. Why was Heidi Cruz sitting on the side of a highway, when a cop found her to be a danger to herself?

3. Where are the defamation lawsuits?

These are not hard questions for Cruz to answer, and he should. Unless, of course, they are politically damaging...

I am a Cruz supporter. And I have been relatively quiet about this because so far it is unfounded conjecture.
But if the details prove true, it will certainly dent some of my enthusiasm for him.
However, what should we do ? Switch to a candidate that is an admitted and serial adulterer. (Trump) or to an enabler of adultry ( Hillary) ?
So perhaps you can see the reticence of Cruz supporters to jump into the fray at this time.
Plus , not many Cruz supporters stay involved in Freerepublic anymore at this time. The vitriolic against them and their supported candidate has been extreme. And has become very Huffington Post like. We have reached tabloid journalism levels only occasionally reached before during my many years here.
So, hence much of the quiet.

THis has been the worst kept secret in DC for months. And many of us have known that he’s been cheating for years. Heidi and Ted don’t really live together and haven’t for quite a while. This is over by a long shot.

You might want to check your Trump quotes. He's a huge Christian, the best, has never done anything wrong requiring forgiveness.

There has been NO such revelation. Even the National Enquirer made no such allegations. They carefully framed everything as rumors and talk that they are reporting on.

Sure, it is a fact that Trump hatchet man Roger Stone is going around saying unsubstantiated things. That's true. And it is THAT the Examiner reported.

So, 'Coach', if you want to tell the truth, you ought to be reporting like this: The most important news this past week was the revelation that Donald Trump, acting through his surrogate, Roger Stone, has been peddling the totally unsubstantiated story that Ted Cruz has had at least five mistresses during the recent past.

At least that would be honest. But since you are a Trump supporter, it's no great leap for you to lie on his behalf, apparently.

Be interesting to hear from Heidi, but since I am now leaning toward the opinion that Cruz and wife had an open marriage, it leaves Heidi in a bind. She can’t come out and say it was OK by her because they had an understanding, as that would be unappealing to most. I am sure sometime today they will try to spin this story, as I tend to believe Cruz is guilty as charged but don’t know how they can present this to be palatable to the evangelicals and other supporters who must be infuriated at being so guiled.

I work in DC, and we’ve been hearing about this story for a loooooong time. So what if I joined in the last month? I’ve been a reader of this website for over a decade. I made an account when I knew this stuff was going to explode so I could comment on it. There’s a reason for why Cruz is so disliked by the people I work for. It’s not just his personality. He’s got a reputation as being super creepy around women. And what’s been released so far about him is only the tip of the iceberg.

You are clearly misunderstood. Trump did all of his dirt back in the 80s and 90s. All of his affairs and wives were covered ad nauseum in the press, and yes in tabloids such as the NE.

The difference is, Trump never pretended to be a Saint like Cruz did.

It’s the hypocrisy that is destroying Cruz. I KNOW what Trump did, I know all about it but it doesn’t pertain to the race. Cruz has done this recently while holding elective office.

The only problem the Establishment has with the Cruz story is that it came out too soon. This is what they were going to use to throw him under the bus, and install their own candidate, after getting rid of Trump.

The allegations are true, but obviously not easy to substantiate because the whole idea of having secret affairs was for them to be secret.

It will end Cruz’s political career, and the sooner the better. But some times it takes a while for people to self-destruct.
