That National Enquirer Ted Cruz "bombshell" confirmed a huge nothingburger
Twitter ^ | 2/24/2016 | Some guy who took a picture

Posted on 03/24/2016 3:53:37 PM PDT by 20yearsofinternet

Link goes directly to picture of the article that's good enough to read.

FULL Disclosure: I'm not a Cruz supporter, but I hate this kind of sleaze and I'm hoping that we can put this to rest before it gets submitted 500 times.

The entire article is based off of the threat from a hoax "Anonymous" account on Twitter, which later turned out to be a RickRoll (all related tweets have since been deleted). I am pretty sure the "details" are actually lifted from replies to the original tweet, LOL. Since they're deleted, I can't be sure. Point being, it was all a hoax and there's nothing there at all, and that's what the article is based off of.

Anyway, just wanted to put it out there that it's typical NE trash, not one of their once-per-decade real bombshells.

Carry on with the War of the Wives. :)

Twitter has taken to (in)famously unverifying a number of conservatives.

“Yep - I’m not sure how Ted can get out of this, not with all of that hard evidence against him.”

He won’t be able to...it is going to escalate. I wonder, will those “principled conservative Christians” still support him as this unfolds? By the way, the author is the Pullitzer award winning reporter who broke the John Edwards infidelity story.

Here is another story on Cruz and Katrina Pierson (Trump’s spokesperson who used to work for Cruz). What struck me was the implication of the Stop Trump PAC may be the leak in this...

Haha. Utterly false that the Trump campaign is their source, and yet one of the supposed women is Trump’s campaign spokesperson.

I just want to show you what my politics are.

We will see, NE has pulled the stuff like I describe and they have also been right on some like Edwards.

John Edwards was a high powered lawyer and they took him down, down, down, time for some music ...

jeff beck going down studio version (skip the ad, I always skip the Cruz ads)

In October 2007, The National Enquirer began a series of reports alleging an adulterous affair between Edwards and former campaign worker Rielle Hunter. By July 2008, several news media outlets speculated that Edwards' chances for the Vice Presidency as well as other positions such as the Attorney General were harmed by the allegations, which now included that he fathered a child with Hunter and had visited her and the baby girl at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. However, the story was not widely covered by the press for some time, until, after initially denying the allegations,[94][95][96][97]Edwards admitted the affair.[98][99] On January 21, 2010, John Edwards issued a press release to admit that he fathered Hunter's child.[100]

...

Indictment and trial On May 24, 2011, ABC News and the New York Times reported that the U.S Department of Justice's Public Integrity Section had conducted a two-year investigation into whether Edwards had used more than $1 million in political donations to hide his affair and planned to pursue criminal charges for alleged violations of campaign finance laws.[118][119][120]

On June 3, 2011, Edwards was indicted by a federal grand jury in North Carolina on six felony charges, including four counts of collecting illegal campaign contributions, one count of conspiracy and one count of making false statements.[121]

After postponing the start of the trial while Edwards was treated for a heart condition in February 2012, Judge Catherine Eagles of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina scheduled jury selection to begin on April 12, 2012.[122] Edwards's trial began on April 23, 2012, as he faced up to 30 years in prison and a $1.5 million fine.[123]

In a related development, on March 13, 2012, the Federal Election Commission ruled that Edwards' campaign must repay $2.1 million in matching federal funds. Edwards' lawyers claimed the money was used, and that the campaign did not receive all the funds to which it was entitled, but the commission rejected the arguments.[124]

Twelve jurors and four alternates were seated, and opening arguments began April 23, 2012.[125] Closing arguments took place May 17, and the case went to the jury the next day.[126]

On May 31, 2012, Edwards was found not guilty on Count 3, illegal use of campaign funding (contributions from Rachel "Bunny" Mellon), while mistrials were declared on all other counts against him.[2] On June 13, 2012, the Justice Department announced that it dropped the charges and will not attempt to retry Edwards.[3]

We should have a lot more information during the next few days/week. It’s also very possible that the National Enquirer hasn’t released everything.

I’m much more sympathetic than the average FReeper to politicians who get caught with their pants down. What every man dreams about having (and yes, those are guilty dreams, as they should be) is served up to these guys on a silver platter, every day. The turndown rate is what’s amazing.

I know, we’ve all turned away once or twice from that cute girl in the office, or the one whose husband/boyfriend isn’t treating her right, and so on. You all know the stories. But that’s once or twice a year, or once or twice a decade. It’s not a succession of nines, every damn day, that you can have with no strings attached, who convince you that they worship you because you’re so great.

Now, they still shouldn’t go for it. I don’t approve of it, but I understand it.

HOWEVER

If half this stuff about Cruz is true, he will not be able to go on.

Most people would not believe how many offers even moderately high-status guys get. As you note, the turndown rate is what’s amazing.

Some people here want a candidate who is totally without sin. Guess what? In 2016, Jesus is not running. I don't expect to hear Him announce His candidacy in 2020 either.

Look at the idiots for Bernie college age girls and you won’t need to wonder what girls that age would do.

Look at the girl on the right in this picture, and tell me she wouldn't go backstage if he even winked at her.

Yes false since #TheThing has been around a lot longer and was RUBIO’s Camp project. So look at your own people for creating this problem then sitting on it until somebody on the GOPe/Media side leaked it.

Interesting take on it all....

Why did the Cruz campaign give a rival $500,000? This guy says it’s because Ted was involved with her campaign manager.

What do you think?

Did Cruz Pay Hush Money to Fiorina? Why did he give a rival $500,000?

What I found revealing is Cruz’ roommate in college. He was beyond critical of Cruz’ personality. Whereas Donald’s military academy colleagues have nothing but praise for his character. I was one of Ted’s strongest supporters, but when he was captured by the GOP establishment, it opened my eyes to a different view of him.

Good points.
