FULL Disclosure: I'm not a Cruz supporter, but I hate this kind of sleaze and I'm hoping that we can put this to rest before it gets submitted 500 times.
The entire article is based off of the threat from a hoax "Anonymous" account on Twitter, which later turned out to be a RickRoll (all related tweets have since been deleted). I am pretty sure the "details" are actually lifted from replies to the original tweet, LOL. Since they're deleted, I can't be sure. Point being, it was all a hoax and there's nothing there at all, and that's what the article is based off of.
Anyway, just wanted to put it out there that it's typical NE trash, not one of their once-per-decade real bombshells.

I just checked back at the sidebar, and noticed the story of Walker saying none of the current candidates will be the nominee if there is a brokered convention.
conventional wisdom here on FR and many places has been that the GOP will toss the corpse of Ted aside when they are done using him
perhaps the plan was... deny Trump the delegate count using Ted... break this story during the convention...send Ted’s delegates to Kasich

The National Enquirer is not a crap source on these types of stories they have probably the best track record in the journalistic industry for breaking adulterous politicians.
I have no doubt you are Cruz supporters, but your attempts to block what is breaking news in reality is not helpful to your highly regarded website.
Let’s also add in the liability factor for them if this is a made up story...doesn’t fit would be too risky. We will see in a few days...
When you read the story, you see that they do not actually accuse Cruz of anything.
The eyes are blacked out on the photos and they carefully place the words “alleged” and “rumored” etc... Throughout the article.
If they came right out and said “Cruz slept with Pierson”. Both can sue.
They say instead”Cruz was rumored to have slept with this blurry picture of someone who may have been Pierson” they cannot be sued.
They do not have the goods, or they would say so.

and THAT is why Trump has been insisting he’ll be the nominee. He knew all along about this story because his campaign manager was directly involved...
He knows the GOP plan, but he also knew this story was going to surface on Trumps timeline, not Mitt’s timeline.
Trump’s not been phased one bit by all the talk of a brokered convention. He just grins like a Cheshire cat.

You don’t play much poker do you. You never expose the strength of your hand, you entice your opponent to engage you to build the pot. After you have them hooked and committed to the game, you then expose them and take them for what ever you can. Poker and politics, not much different.
