Limbaugh Just Got Asked If Cruz Still Has ‘Honest Chance To Win’–Here’s His 3-Word Answer

"The party has not lifted a finger to help him..."

Noting that Sen. Ted Cruz has waged a zealous, uphill campaign in the shadow of other candidates the headline writers have focused upon, conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh admonished the oddsmakers Friday not to write off the Texan too soon.

Limbaugh was asked by a caller, "Do you think that Cruz still has an honest chance to win?"

"Yeah, I do," Limbaugh said as part of his reply. "I don't think it's anywhere near over yet."

Limbaugh noted that Cruz has been last in media publicity, but has soldiered on with a prodigious fund-raising ability and is a strong second to front-runner Donald Trump.

"Everybody wants you to believe one of two things: It's over, Cruz is not gonna get there, Trump is, and we're gonna go to a contested convention and it's gonna be between (Ohio Gov. John) Kasich and whoever else the establishment can throw up," Limbaugh said. "It still amazes me."

Limbaugh added, "And here, again, nobody's talking about Ted Cruz. And he's there every day, and he's out campaigning. He's going everywhere, and he is in second place despite all of the obstacles that have been put in his way. So I think he can win.

"He is hated by the establishment, and they are the ones that totally ignore him. The party has not lifted a finger to help him, and even now when they are starting to, they make it known that they're not happy to be doing it.

"He is being dwarfed and swamped by unprecedented coverage of Trump, who hasn't had to spend any money to get it. Nobody wants to talk about Ted Cruz. We're told over and over that everybody in the Senate hates him. We're told over and over everybody in Washington hates him. But yet he's in second place and he's won nine states. So you're asking me if I think Ted Cruz can win? Yeah, I do. I don't think it's anywhere near over yet. "

I think Rush gave an intelligent, well-reasoned answer to the question that was posed to him. I think he is right, it is far from over. Cruz has been fighting an uphill battle and has fared surprisingly well in spite of all that. However . . .

At this point, Trump appears to be an unstoppable force. He is the overwhelming favorite to garner enough delegates to win the nomination outright and go all the way.

Cruz running against Trump is like Sham running against Secretariat at Belmont. Of course the race wasn't over heading into the backstretch . . .

“The party has not lifted a finger to help him...”

It doesn’t count as help that the entire GOPe apparatus has been marshalled to “get Trump”?

Did you predict his Maine and Alaska wins?

Nope, Maine was caucus state and there was no real polling in Alaska.

BTW, Trump and Cruz TIED WITH DELEGATES 14 EACH IN ALASKA.

Some win!!

Time for the onslaught of Trump worshippers accusing Limbaugh of being establishment mouthpiece.

Yep. Emotions, hysteria, vitriol, that's pretty much what we can expect from all sides at this point. Like a bunch of teenage girls.

It seems to me that Cruz' campaign slogan may as well be

To the Mormons I became as a Mormon, that I might gain Utah.

After Trump gets All of Arizona’s delegates, and 40 % of Utah’s delegates, Cruz would have to get 94% of all remaining delegates. He would have to cure lepers, and bring sight to the blind, to achieve those numbers.

Cruz has to really up his game to win it AND Trump has to completely blow his to lose it. But miracles do happen.

Cruz's position is comparable to a football team being 14 points behind, in the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter of the game. Do they have a chance of winning? Sure. Is it even remotely likely? No.

Didn’t help in Nevada, a state with a big Mormon presence.

Alaska is 14-14. So you honestly believe SainTed is going to win 87% of the remaining delegates. On your oaf, er, oath, you believe that.

With respect, I don’t think Cruz would ever have had a plurality in NY. Sure he shot himself in the foot - but he didn’t fall very far. It just meant he could never win others over that might have been on the fence. Oh, and Jersey.

of course he does.

the GOPe has done everything they can to trip up and attack Trump. their effort is to keep him from getting 1237 locked in.

why?

so they can decide who to give it to... and that person would be Cruz, the only other choice.

then again, they haven’t really helped him... yet they would give him the nomination?? of course. why?

because they know he would be disqualified by the democrats if they pushed for it. which, with the presidency on the line, they would.

the only situation in which they don’t push to have Cruz declared ineligible would be... if Trump ran 3rd party and split the ticket ... as they know hillary would be able to win a split ticket on the right.

Hush Bimbo needs to get back on the oxycotin and taking “stag party” trips to the Dominican Republic with mislabeled viagra pills and condoms. Mitt Romney, Graham, etc etc., have not only endorsed Cruz but are hooking him up with the rest of the GOPe fundraisers. The party hasn’t come out for Cruz? Rush is either stupid or is a liar and thinks his audience is stupid.

You can disagree with Rush without sounding like an idiotic, foul mouthed, nasty liberal.

Rush is a good man and has done a lot of good for the conservative cause.

You do not make yourself look good.

Double-entendre?

I’ll give Rush credit for what he did to bring conservative radio to the forefront in the late 80s. Some of his bits used to be hilarious.

Now, he’s like the heavyweight champ who sticks around past his prime, thinking he can still come out on top. Thanks, Rush, but it’s time to move onto the golf course full time.

Bring in Mark Steyn or Jeff Kuhner, and conservative radio will not skip a beat.

Right now Cruz is a Spoiler, after Tuesday night, when he will need 94% of remaining delegates, he just becomes a tool of the Anti-Trump GOPe.

I’m a New Yorker by birth, and I knew and know exactly what Ted Cruz was talking about. He was talking about a set of values completely antagonistic to the way I was raised, and a set of values that drove industry and commerce from the state, and which explain why I am now a Texan.

No one I know in New York would take the slightest offense at what he said, and quite to the contrary would appreciate a condemnation of the set of values which has destroyd jobs, stolen wealth, and cheapened human life.
