So, who’s staying home in November if Trump’s the nominee?

I am, says Erick Erickson, and he's not alone. One of the chief coping mechanisms from righties on social media this weekend upon surveying the destruction in South Carolina was to swear they'll never be a Trumpist, even if the heavens fall. I believe Erickson, but I'd also bet cash money that 90 percent of the people saying "HELL NO NEVER HAPPEN" today will grudgingly come around over the next eight months upon being reminded, not on a daily but on an hourly basis, that Hillary Clinton is a pathological liar who'd be in prison if not for her status as the creme de la creme of Washington's elites.

I'm not saying conservative revulsion at Trump isn't real. It is, and I think when it all shakes out in November that Trump will have seen more Republicans stay home for him than stayed home for either Romney or McCain. But I don't think there'll be a third party and I also don't think that some sliver of conservatives staying home will doom Trump's candidacy. Given Hillary's weakness and his own appeal to independents and Reagan Democrats, it's possible that he'd find the votes he needs to win in the center. That would be the final indignity to the conservative movement after having its impotence laid bare for more than a year -- staging a mass boycott of Trump on election day and discovering that Trump can win anyway...

I’m voting for Trump and if he wins I will stand at the front of my home banging on my frying pan with a wooden spoon...plus maybe some fireworks!

In a few more primaries, I will be booking hotel rooms for the inauguration.

He was making some strange demands last night too. Some FReepers called him out on his BS and he said if two particular posters apologized to him he would make a large donation to FR.

Trump irritates me far more than Mitt. I know there won’t be any progress on abortion. The best we can hope for is maybe a justice Kennedy if we’re lucky. Do I trust him to protect the country from illegals and Muslims? That I believe he will follow through on. Everything else is a bargaining chip to Trump, IMO. So yes, I suppose if it’s a choice of being overrun by violent migrants and not being overrun, which Democrats seem bent on making a reality, I would vote for Trump. But an American should be able to expect more.

Thanks mbrfl, appreciate your reply.

>>>”maybe you don’t have Trump pegged like you think you do.

I’m kinda old and remember reading Art of the Deal when it came out. I’ve followed Trump ever since, USFL, Atlantic City, WWE, The Apprentice, etc, read much, and researched him, listened to hours of his interviews and read transcripts.

I honestly wish I could support him; I wish I could be neutral at least. It takes a lot for me to oppose him at all, and a great for me to oppose his candidacy so strongly.

I do have an open mind, and I’m not reaching my position now lightly.

Thanks again, and I wish you and yours well.

Oh, W was a disappointment, to be sure, but Trump has the potential to be much worse.

As much as I’ve been critical of Trump. I’ll vote for him at lever for him. The next member of the supreme court must not lie in the hands of of any Democrat

Remember, many here are in the “Romney would have been just as bad as Obama” Club. Complete nonsense, but they believe.

I will Vote for ANY Republican against ANY DemoncRat, period.

Thank goodness Jeb! made that decision a whole lot easier by dropping out of the Race.

Carry on.

I told all my kids years ago, if you don’t want to get off your ass and go vote... You can’t complain about how things are being ran. That said, I am now officially done voting for lying career politicians and the lesser of two evils, however I will still cast my vote... Some votes may be left blank or I might write in Mickey Mouse this time, to be sure my no vote does not magically get electronically changed to a dem vote. Under-votes let the party know they did not provide a choice we could support. I.E. If McCain is my only (R) choice in the General, I wont vote for him or his democrat opponent...

Why stay home when you can write-in Ted Cruz

Yep, I haven't missed a vote yet and have used that option before.

Do you believe that a sufficient number of people voting for someone other than the Democrat or Republican candidate would send a message to the Uniparty that we are not being fooled?

There are already about 50% of the people not voting for the Uniparty by not voting at all.

Of those that vote for different candidates, the numbers are tiny and are distributed from far left to far right.

This sends no signal at all.

My best guess is that the Uniparty was surprised by Trump. They will embrace him and try to mold him, but I'm thinking one of two things will happen:

1. Trump will not be molded and will actually accomplish a few good things like improving our border security, or

2. Trump will turn out to be a complete embarrassment, but only after the Uniparty has gone all in for Trump and has been tarred by his silliness.

Either one of those outcomes would be preferred to a safe puppet like Hillary getting into office, or a weak and easily manipulated quisling like Sanders.

>>>Oh, W was a disappointment, to be sure, but Trump has the potential to be much worse<<<

Then again, he has the “potential” to be much better too.

One thing about potential, you don’t really know people have it until they prove they do. Bush didn’t, but he meant well.

Wake up, Trump can and SHALL beat any Dem.

Unlike anyone else who ran/is still running in the GOP primary, Trump is the ONLY one who can and shall win traditional BLUE and PURPLE states!

Trump is NOTHING at all like Obama and to equate the the two is patently ridiculous.

You can help delusional trump supporters.

I have it said to me, Trump won't miss my vote. Well ok then, that's settled.

I hope that just once in my life I don’t have to consider this question. I’m darned sick of voting for the least “liberal” candidate.
