Ah you children, you worship a myth Reagan created in the 1990s by the Conservative Media Establishment.

The Reagan myth runs something like this. Reagan, after beating both Carter and the GOP Political Establishment rode into DC, took off his jacket, rolled up his sleeves , and proceeded to beat the snot out of everyone in DC.

The real Reagan was a much more human, flawed, man. Reagan went to DC and proceed to cut deals with a Democrat Congress to move his political ball down the field. He surrendered on any number of political issues that resulted in the “Conservative Media Establishment” writing in 1986 about how Reagan had “betrayed the Conservative Movement.”

Reagan has some advice for your sort of Political purists.

By Ronald Reagan in his autobiography An American Life

“When I began entering into the give and take of legislative bargaining in Sacramento, a lot of the most radical conservatives who had supported me during the election didn’t like it. “Compromise” was a dirty word to them and they wouldn’t face the fact that we couldn’t get all of what we wanted today. They wanted all or nothing and they wanted it all at once. If you don’t get it all, some said, don’t take anything. I’d learned while negotiating union contracts that you seldom got everything you asked for. And I agreed with FDR, who said in 1933: ‘I have no expectations of making a hit every time I come to bat. What I seek is the highest possible batting average.’ If you got seventy-five or eighty percent of what you were asking for, I say, you take it and fight for the rest later, and that’s what I told these radical conservatives who never got used to it.”

So he’s lying. Got it.

Yep unfortunately you are correct, Cruz is lying and has been all campaign. Not sure why he is using this tactic. His message alone probably could sell but he has that stupid “win at all costs” nonsense. I think for decades the Cruz campaign will be taught in political sciences courses on how NOT to run a campaign.

Yeah I know. Anyone who isn’t Trump is a liar.

Your post to me is mindless nonsense. You set up a strawman fallacy about worshipping Reagan and then you knock it down.

I don't worship anybody.

Reagan wasn't perfect.

McCain, Romney and the Bushes still weren't Reagan.

And your guy Trump isn't close to Reagan. He's not even conservative.

Remember all of these sycophantic Trump supporters on FR. The day will come when there will be payback. And that payback will be a bitch.

Some of them are really democrats, trade unionists, liberals and progressives posing as Conservatives. Some are gullible or delusional. They are all a lost cause this time around.

No matter what, you have to admit Trump will be a strong President.

Trump’s an embarrassment.

I think Orrin Grant Hatch voted for Romney 2012, but I am not so sure about 2008; he may have voted for Obama, as he has had personal issues with the popular McPain.

The remaining 25 percent though is usually what is really the important part of the legislation in question, and conservatives never get any of that next year or any year.

Both Peter King and Orin Hatch have said today that Ted Cruz’s eligibility to run for President is questionable.

King and Hatch are first and foremost GOPe. Any threat to them is to be destroyed. The Demonicrats and the GOPe have a tacit understanding of power. Each wants to be in power but prefers their opposition compared to grass roots of either side. The Demonicrats and the GOPe are both doing their best to destroy Sanders and Cruz.

Wrong, you’re a naive child if you think PP does anything good anytime. Grow up, your sTrumpet was off the reservation trying to defend the evil PP, and so are you. Disgusting sentiments on FR....

...maybe you can explain why your sTrumpet applied for HB-1 visas to employ over 70 foreigners at his mansion in FL taking jobs Americans would love to do... but he’ll make America great, what a crock!

Well, obviously DeMint is lying about cruz, along with Jeff Sessions.

Let’s all just admit right now that all the true conservative stalwarts like DeMint, Sessions, and Lee are just liars and liberal flip floppers like Cruz. Then we can elevate Trump to godlike standards and look past Rubio’s transgressions because “the gang of eight bill was never meant to pass”.

If we can all convince ourselves of this then we can join the Trump cult of personality that has turned our FRiends into Jones like followers who can believe their messiah can stand on all sides of an issue and will be the greatest thing ever.

I seem to remember another cult of personality whose followers ascribed all manner of good things was possible if we just believe. Now let me go and see if I can remember who that was.

Check his voting record. Check the fights he chose to fight. He was one of the most conservative senators.

DeMint can’t be a conservative. The Don says so. He’s not supporting The Don, after all. He’s defending Cruz.

“DeMint another Godldman Sachs owned GOPe hack!”

That sure shows how much you know about Jim DeMint!

And what are the chances that Trump has done business with Goldman Sachs!

I can’t help but picture a little boy who needs the big kids to come and defend him. Not exactly creating a vision of strength. As I’ve said before, I don’t believe there is a world leader currently, who would fear Cruz.

How many public people have stepped up to talk up Trump? None that I can think of - guess he can handle it all on his own.

It’s going to be difficult to watch Cruz get buried when the others drop out and the focus is on him. As bad as some of his supporters think it is here on this forum, they haven’t seen nothing yet - he will be painted into a corner.

Uh, I agree with you. Maybe you wanted to post to someone else on the thread. I was sad when DeMint retired.

You know the problem here is that people are too lazy to really analyze candidates and don’t see that elections can be the difference between freedom and slavery.
