Senator Jim DeMint Defends Ted Cruz
The Resurgent ^ | February 17, 2016, 12:16pm | Erick Erickson

Posted on 02/17/2016 10:34:43 AM PST by SoConPubbie

I filled in for Herman Cain earlier today and had on Senator Jim DeMint, the current President of the Heritage Foundation and former Senator from South Carolina.

The interview was about the Supreme Court, but I had to ask DeMint about the attacks on Cruz in South Carolina. Neither Cruz nor Rubio would be in the Senate but for Jim DeMint’s Senate Conservatives Fund supporting them.

Senator DeMint told me he knows Ted Cruz, knows he is honest, and knows that the attacks are coming because Cruz fights Washington. Washington politicians, in turn, have decided they have to take out Ted Cruz.

You can listen to that part of the interview from the Herman Cain Show here:

Uh, No, you’re wrong.
It was Orin Hatch who begged Palin for an endorsement and got it.

Cruz is eligible to be president no matter what Hatch and Ann Coulter say. And Cruz has challenged Trump to put up (sue him) or shut up. Trump will fold.

Trump boasts big on Twitter, and then says everyone is his friend at the debates.

Jim Demint is a man who should be president.

You guys still don't get it. You are using the same old 30 year old campaign book. It is not working. When everyone from John Kaisch to Ted Cruz talks endlessly about being the "Real Conservative" the words have lost all meaning to average voters. You keep running the same old plays from the same old Political Establishment playbook and then wonder why you keep losing ground!

Betrayed in the House: Gohmert Says Gingrich & DeMint Swayed Freedom Caucus on Ryan [Video]

[snip]”Promises were made and as I understand it, our friend Senator Jim DeMint, now head of the Heritage Foundation was making calls persuading...really shocked me. I don’t guess I was so surprised that Newt Gingrich was making calls behind the scenes to Freedom Caucus members to tell them, ‘you gotta cave and go with Paul,’” Gohmert said.

Paul Ryan and Rubio are owned by the same players....Norquist and Cesar Conda.

People have to face the fact that MOST of their so called ‘conservative’ entities have sold out! Heritage Foundation’s head economist is Steven Moore, who has been PRO amnesty/cheap foreign labor for decades, who along with Norquist and Conda destroyed Prop. 187 in Calif and stood against every attempt at enforcement of immigration laws.

There’s a big difference between discussion and vile personal attacks on the candidates and their respective supporters. I agree that the attacks go both ways. I did not say anything to suggest that we should just agree and not think for ourselves, so get off your high horse.

If the right plays require praising Planned Parenthood for the "great things they do", I'd rather lose.

I knew there was something fishy about all these open borders grunts... So are they thinking they can make Hispanics their new base?

“If the right plays require praising Planned Parenthood for the “great things they do”

PP does some good things, but as TRUMP SAID...NOT THE ABORTION Part of it! Cruz lied about this TOO.

During an interview with Chris Wallace of Fox News, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump repeated his assertion that the Planned Parenthood abortion business should be de-funded.

TRUMP, Oct. 2015......” Planned Parenthood should absolutely be defunded. I mean if you look at what’s going on with that, it’s terrible. And many of the things should be defunded and many things should be cut.””

in July, Trump told The Blaze that Planned Parenthood should be de-funded in light of recent revelations about their organ harvesting business. He said, “It’s disgusting. And absolutely they should be defunded. I thought it was so cavalier, so horrible.”

In August, Trump compared the Planned Parenthood abortion business to an automobile dealership, saying it is an “abortion factory” that sells the body parts of aborted babies like a dealership sells cars.

Trump made the comments on the Laura Ingraham show...
“What I would do when the time came, I’d look at the individual things they do, and maybe some of the individual things they do are good. I know a lot of the things are bad. But certainly the abortion aspect of it should not be funded by government, absolutely,” he said.

Cruz "character":

1. Phony summonses mailed out, scaring people to vote.

2. Claiming Carson quit, "vote for me"

3. Campaigning in the 800 churches, showing video "vote for me" with his preacher/father stomping for him.

4. "Brilliant" lawyer, did not know he was Canadian citizen and that he is not Natural Born Citizen, not eligible for office of P or VP.

“So are they thinking they can make Hispanics their new base?”

That’s what they say. But it’s really all about the $$$...there is BIG $$ in open borders, illegal immigration.

For instance...the hundreds of thousands of $$$ Rubio gets from private prisons who house these aliens.

Marco Rubio..OWNED by illegal alien lobby & Private Prison Big $$$$ donors!

It's great to hear from DeMint; he's been one of the good guys for a long time and has a sharp mind. This definitely adds points to the Cruz tally.

>>Good for DeMint. I don’t care who one’s candidate is, these attacks on Cruz, our most visible conservative champion, are gross and disgusting. Frankly, disqualifying. Anyone using these tactics is an enemy of conservatism.<<

I totally agree!

If you think DeMint isn’t a conservative, you’re delusional. He’s more like the conservative standard.

Ok just cling to your failed Establishment political playbook of selective quotation, exaggeration and lying by omission. You guys do not get it. The political playbook itself is part of the problem. you are uaing the same old political tactics in a year when people are completely fed up with “politics as usual”..

Your candidates are acting like standard issue politicians running standard issue “politics as usual” campaigns and you wonder wondering why they are losing ground!

The voters have heard all the same thing from the GOP candidates for 3 decades. All the high flying retroic on ideological purity are meaningless to a voter who been underemployed since 2008,is worried if his employer is going to move his job to Mexico tomorrow and whose kids go to a corrupt, incompetent, gang infested school.

People want solutions, not “how many Conservatives can dance on the head of a pin”, ideological debates.

So many Freepers have lost the ability to discern since Trump entered the field and fed their emotions. I didn’t realize how defeated the Freepers mode of thinking was.....is.....and desire for revenge. For whatever reasons they can’t see beyond their feelings....and defending Trump no matter how vile he is...and he is.....nor what truth they are presented with. They’ve even crashed what conservative principles and values they had on this fraud.

I got to say that it’s real easy to see how the nations peoples worldwide will fall for the anti-Christ when he comes.....they are “RIPE” for deception.

Same old play book? As if John McCain, Mitt Romney and even GW Bush were real conservatives?? As if McConnell and Boehner are real conservatives.

"Using the same playbook", is running Donald J. Trump, who also isn't conservative.

We done this over-and-over and it hasn't worked before and it isn't going to work now.

PP does some good things,

They get paid money to do things pap smears that honorable agencies and offices can also do. And the KKK cleans up stretches of road in Georgia. Not one dime of money should go to either for "tehir good things".

Trump echoed it again at the last debate. I have been willing to allow Trump wiggle room when he uses less than precise or hyperbolic language. This is one area that I will not be accepting of him discussing Planned Parenthood as if it wasn't founded on the eugenics notion of "More from the fit, fewer from the unfit".

So Rush knows all about this as well, and is playing right along.... sewing the deception... I am still trying to figure out what a ‘full throated’ conservative is... Rubio’s street credentials... It means something but what I do not know.

Trump is for an expedited return, a legalization amnesty for likely millions of illegals.

He's also for legalizing foreign students who graduate college. There are 200K of them a year.

Trump primarily features a consumer tax a.k.a tariffs and wants to raise the number of people who don't pay federal tax. Less people paying tax means less people will have skin in the game and more will vote for more free things.

All of these things won't help the job situation in the country it will hurt it.

That's why conservatism matters and deserves a change.
