So sorry. I lost my mother a little over a year ago and I think you just don’t get over it. Someday I will see her again.

Don-O’s quite a guy, so I’m not surprised to hear his mom is a good woman.
My sincere prayers. 90 years is pretty good good though. I hope she has had a wonderful life, and gets better to enjoy more years. Bless her!

Since sleep may be slow coming tonight. I’ll go ahead and post. My dear mama passed peacefully from this fleeting and transitory life, surrounded by family, including her four children and her brother, the last survivor of seven siblings. She had a massive stroke and she went quickly, though they were able to jump start her, which gave the family enough time to gather and make the needful decisions.
She was born and lived all her life in Upper East Tennessee (Knoxville and north to the Tri Cities). After my daddy died in 1994, she was able to live independently and to live a full and rich life. She did not go in much for the “senior lifestyle” whatever that is; but had a devoted set of friends who were naturally attracted to her sweetness and goodness.
Her happiest times were when her family gathered. As, the Mrs mentioned, this past Saturday, all but two in the immediate family (including four great grand children celebrated her ninetieth birthday.
We went to church with her the next day. When she was recognized, she again surprised herself by standing up and expressing how much she loved them all. (After she did it she told us, “I can’t believe I did that.”) What a sweet memory - one of too many to begin to number.
She followed family tradition being an elementary school teacher. She most loved teaching first grade. When Christian schools began to open, sh brought her years of experience to assist getting them established by mentoring new teachers.
A couple of years ago, she turned the family genealogy over to me. I loved seeing her surprise herself when a long forgotten memory came back to her.
One thing I learned was that between college terms one summer, she and a girlfriend worked at Oak Ridge where the atomic energy work was done.
I have no idea what my world will be like without her.

pray to You for Your handmaiden whose sickness is bringing
her to the end of her earthly life. You are the God
whose only-begotten Son taught us that not even the
smallest sparrow can fall without Your knowledge, and that
You hold all creation in Your merciful arms. Look upon Your
handmaiden and allow this illness to be for the death only of those things which are the result of evil and sin. Let her thoughts be quieted with the peace and confidence of
her final deliverance into the fullness of Your love. Keep
her soul and body pure, and sanctify them during the time
she remains among us, that on the last day she may
be raised up with all Your saints to live with You in never ending glory. For to You belong praise and worship, to the
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of
ages. Amen
O Lord and Master and Governor of all, Father of Our Lord
Jesus Christ, who desirest not the death of a sinner, we pray Thee to loose the soul of Thy handmaiden from every bond, and to free her from every unfulfilled pledge which she has given, granting her forgiveness of all her sins from her youth till now, known and unknown, in deed and word, both those which she has sincerely confessed, and those which she has concealed through forgetfulness or shame. For Thou alone loosest bonds and restorest the downtrodden, Thou art the hope of them that are in despair, mighty in forgiving the sins of every creature who puts her trust in Thee. O Lord, the Lover of mankind, bid her to be released from all the bonds of sin and the flesh. Receive in peace the soul of this Thy servant and give her rest in Thy eternal dwelling with all Thy Saints, by the grace of Thine only Son our Lord and God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, with Whom Thou are blessed together with Thine all-holy, gracious and lifegiving Spirit now and forever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
