I cannot access my recipes, documents, etc...because Windows 10 cannot communicate with the mothership
There are several hundred versions of free Linux available. The top 100 most popular are always listed at Distrowatch.com along with reviews. Most Linux versions (called distributions) have thousands of free programs and apps that can be downloaded from well maintained online repositories.
You can make you pc multi-bootable. It will boot and show a menu to allow you to chose if you want to boot Windows 7, 8 or 10 or Linux.

Get rid of win-hell 10. Buy a Mac, buy Linux, and never look back. Don’t let Microsloth capture your personal data/habits for free...not because you’re paranoid, but because it’s yours to sell, not theirs.
Start --> Settings --> Accounts
Towards the top you will see a link for signing in with a local account instead.
When you get back online and get logged in, if you need to create a local user (ie - you didn't upgrade to Win10 and no local users were created on that PC), here's a link to the steps:
I cannot access my recipes, documents, etc...because Windows 10 cannot communicate with the mothership
Because you didn't set up a local account.

Buy Linux?
I may have bought one, once, long ago.
The cloud does not exist. Sorry.
Terms of Service... LOL! You read them all... right? I am dumping the terms of service right now. All I wanted to do was alert other Freepers that maybe they cannot get to their documents when they want them. I will shut up now, because I need to read the “terms of service” on everything that I clicked on, for the last 15 years. Where can I find a lawyer
I could not that folder. Thanks for playing though. I was trying to login to the PC, which is a prerequisite to accessing that folder. Unless you boot to something else.
Ha ha! She has a basic troubleshooting issue at the “101” level, bores us all about it, you try to help her, then she lies AND insults YOU in one pithy reply. WOW! Arrogance and stupidity on display.
NO I DON’T. I simply want to log into my computer. Thanks for playing.
Ahhh, password reset. I’ve had to do that on occasion too.
Yea. I know. Thanks
up yours...dickhead
my windows 10 laptop at work can’t connect to the internet until after I log it in, because, you have to agree to “the terms of usage” before it will give you a connection.
I never have problems with logging in.
At home, the provided WIFI (I live in a marina and the WIFI is a benefit) is VERY iffy. Never has stopped me from logging in.
One suggestion, if this was an upgrade Win10, and you had to create a WINDOWS login over your old one, try the old one. My desktop lost the Windows Store App and I had to revert back to the old login for a bit. All is well now.
Thanks for your help, but there is a local account set up on the computer, and I know how to access it...
I love you too.
You have to be logged in to sign in.
Reminds me of the time that me and a colleague of mine was installing OS/2 on 300 new Dell computers for a hospital, and there was a bin of Windows NT 4.0 disks that wound up getting thrown away LOL
Why are people using this operating system?
I was able to log into my Windows 10 laptop after logging off and turning off the wifi. It should have a local account saved UNLESS your account is a Microsoft account. Mine is a domain account.
