Mark Levin's Tortured Defense of Cruz Eligibility
Trump Campaign Analysis Blog ^ | 1/16/2016 | Greg Buls

Mark Levin has spent years defending the Constitution, his radio show bumpers refer to him as "Mr. Constitution". In his view, the constitutional debates and the views of the founding fathers should determine its meaning.

Levin has abandoned this standard in his defense of Ted Cruz's eligibility to run for President. This is evident in at least two ways - ignoring the founders' intentions and arguments, and suggesting that there are only two types of citizenship: naturalized and natural born. Levin revisits this issue with exasperation every day, knocking Mr. Trump and others for discussing it. Last week he referred to the issue as a 'turd in the swimming pool'. Let's examine it.

Canada is a possession of the English Crown. The analog in the founders time was England itself. Levin is suggesting that a person born after the founding, in England, with English citizenship, to parents of mixed allegiance, would have passed the founders' scrutiny. That idea should seem absurd on its face.

You seriously think Trump is a hero? I served in the Marine Corps, so please explain to me exactly how Trump, who flipflops when convenient is a hero. Then explain how Trump money in the last five years to big time libs is OK with you.

“Levin is smarter than anyone on Fr.”

I wouldn’t say THAT, but Mr Levin is most certainly as smart as anyone else on F.R.

That being said that lack of breadth and depth of the “thinking” of those who are desperately trying to SMEAR the man are truly astonishing!

It APPEARS as though what we are seeing here is reputable expert..a Constitutional lawyer... who worked under Ronald Reagan.. attacked by Bobby who lives in his moms .spare room

Yes, and Trump also said it wasn’t an issue untill it was when Cruz moved precipitously up in the polls.

In the very least, Trump is a hero for keeping Jeb Bush away from the nomination.

Seriously, he pushed Jeb’s choo choo train right off the tracks, and for that he is certainly a hero of mine.

Not only pro-Trump, but from the campaign no less...

One should not insult a guy who transmits a zillion words to a bigger audience then one’s little blog does..

Levin is purposely misleading voters into thinking it’s a non-issue.

It’s a serious issue that Dems will raise that’s never been fully addressed by the Supreme Court.

For those of us (me) that were called kooks, nutty birthers we follow the Constitution. It MATTERS.

Only Trump had the balls to raise the issue of the fraud B.C. at the time.

Where was Levin?

I love Levin. He is heavily emotionally invested in Cruz, but if Cruz loses, he will support Trump.

I have been a long time listener of Mark Levin and there is something very odd about the way he has approached the eligibility issue from the outset with Obama and now Cruz. It is as if he doesn’t want to deal with it, which is uncharacteristic since the Constituion is his forte and he regularly expounds on all aspects of the Constitution. This is bizarre to say the least because I truly believe he is extremely knowledgeable on the Constitution. I, therefore, must conclude there exists some sort of hidden agenda. Perhaps, he, like the other conservative radio hosts, were threatened to steer clear of the issue with Obama and now they find themselves in a trick bag with Cruz. Whatever the reason Levin is not doing himself any favors with his outlandish, arrogant, disrespectful, over the top and defensive behavior. It is almost as if he is now trying to force a square peg into a round hole.

[There is a reason Cruz chose to NOT pursue this solution.]

Similar to the reason he chose not to disclose his “loan” from G-S.

That is not going to happen.

It was never going to happen.

In fact, without a case with standing working it’s way through the lower courts, SCOTUS will never take on something like that and I’m notsureit’s in their purview to do it.
