Some Thoughts on Something Besides Cruz's Eligibility
11 January | Vanity

Posted on 01/11/2016 6:18:49 PM PST by Shery

Personally, I was shocked when the "queen of conservatism" came out for Donald Trump. Phyllis Schafly has been a conservative icon for so long, and even though I've disagreed with her a couple times in the recent past, I was flabbergasted that she would pick somebody who openly declares that he doesn't see his need of asking God's forgiveness for anything. I realize she predicated her choice on what he claims to be his stand on immigrants, and how he says he will deal with the illegals. However, has she been listening to him or just reading what she wants to hear? He has flip-flopped on the issue so much as to make me throw up my hands and declare "What does he really intend to do...can somebody please explain it to me?" To one group it's this, to another, it's something else. That's not exactly what makes me feel secure about a person's stand on an issue, but with Trump, it doesn't seem to matter.

The other important issue is this. Who will he pick for the Supreme Court? That's THE critical issue that is not being talked about this cycle. Several currently serving are of age to pass on during the next few years. I do not see Trump choosing a conservative. He is not one, so why would he choose one? He is not for defunding Planned Parenthood. He is not a small government guy. He has no plan for anything realistically other than, "We're going to do this, it's going to be fun, and we'll get it done." That's policy? Sounds more like a coach before a kid's baseball game, not a presidential candidate laying out plans.

I feel that this year, 2016 is America's last chance at redemption. Franklin Graham is going to every state to hold a crusade and call for prayer/fasting for our country and this election. The very least we can do is pray and ask God who is the best choice to lead America back to a place where we are morally sound again. Wouldn't we want a real Christian to be that leader? Trump knows noting of the Bible. He doesn't think he needs to read it or live by it. True conservatives are those who see the big picture is more than fiscal conservatism or simply feeding the poor. It is being a leader to help get America back on moral grounds again, as well as leading in the other areas.

My prayer is that Americans wake up to the real battle going on for the souls of men everywhere. Satan is our Enemy and he is winning in America. Pastors have equated running for office with greed, avarice, ungodliness, etc. How do you elect godly men and women if you equate even the godly with he ungodly? Our forefathers never wanted to see the day when the founding principles would be thrown out, trashed, stomped on and godly people reviled. Pastors who shame people from voting will have blood on their hands. Christians who refuse to vote because Jesus is not running have blood on their hands. One can sin through omission as well as commission. Remember that.

A godly leader is marked by a servant attitude, transparent integrity, godly character; a good leader uses gracious words not speech that is like a scorching fire.

As good citizens we should not leave the operation of the government to ungodly men. How can we prevent that? One way is to use our vote wisely. We have the opportunity to vote in the primaries to choose a godly leader. This is an area that most (even Christians) fail at. We will be accountable before God as to how we voted...or not. When we could have done good and refused to, we give the enemy a foot int he door. You may be angry that you don't feel you had much choice, but there is still a choice. More of one if you join the few that actually do turn out for a primary vote. THAT is where YOU can make a big difference.

PLEASE vote in the primaries, and even if your candidate doesn't win, remember the consequences of staying home and letting Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton win.

Trump is still much “nicer” than McPain and less liberal than Romney.

You forgot Reagan’s Sandra Day O’Connor, who was no Reaganite.

Poor n00b...I have always capitalized certain words to add inflection, or highlight something.

And 14 year olds aren't intelligent nor knowledgeable enough to have any kind of intellectual discourse on the legalization of pot. OTOH, since that's a topic apparently near and dear to your heart, that gives one pause and an indication of your position on things.

That sleaze wouldn’t know the truth if it knocked on his front door, and neither would a lot of his fervent fans.

What else would you call a man who regularly went on Howard Stern’s show to discuss his sexual habits, premature ejaculation, his wife’s bathroom habits, and celebrity sex tapes? A fine upstanding citizen?

Well, yeah, I know a lot of you would, but I haven’t drunk the Kool-Aid, nor will I.

I absolutely care nothing about whether candidate a “knows Jesus” or has been “born again,” etc., etc.

Jimmy Carter was “born again.” Our first pro-abortion fanatic President. Bill Clinton toted a Bible. A huge one. Obama is a “Christian.”

So what caused you to do a complete 180 on Trump? To go from distaste over his “disgusting lifestyle” to labeling him “the George Washington of our time?”

I mean, that’s a pretty notable change of heart. How came you to your new view of Trump?

There was a time when “true conservatives” didn’t look favorably on CFR connections. Interesting that now it doesn’t seem to matter. CFR seems a lot more dangerous than Howard Stern interviews.

JimRob-—this guy needs to GO. Just like the 2012 Romney supporters.

“JR’s Trump circus”??

TZ, do you realize you’re a guest here? You got here a few days ago and you are insulting the owner? Adios, troll.

One of his scumbag voters here at FR the other day called Ted Cruz’s view that the unborn are alive “extreme”.

Are you making that up? Please send me that post.

Trump is not a social conservative
Cruz is a social conservative
Both hold similar views on immigration, Islamic threat
For me I think Trump will garner many Dem. cross-over voters which we need in order to defeat the Soros machine
Also, it is possible that a Dem organization may challenge Cruz on eligibility-u can’t put anything past them
Trump will address all the RAGING FIRE ISSUES & COMMAND RESPECT
Cruz is needed on the high court

“And 14 year olds aren’t intelligent nor knowledgeable enough to have any kind of intellectual discourse on the legalization of pot.”

Well, looks like FR’s most skilled discussionist has apparently missed the sarcasm of my comment...a pretty difficult feat, as I was laying it on pretty damn heavy.

Regardless, the key difference between a Trumpista and a fourteen year old is that even a fourteen year old could see through a rich old white liberal trying to pass himself off as a conservative. Oh, they may want him to be president - but that’s just because the prospect of it is funnier than hell to them...kind of like making the fat kid prom king.
