Picking GHWB as VP was one of Reagan’s few political errors.

And it almost got him killed. I find it highly coincidental that the Bush and Hinckley families were as thick as thieves (NO pun intended), and that Neil Bush was actually going to have dinner with the brother of John Hinckley that same week that Reagan was shot. Of course GHWB, being a former CIA director AND an employee of the CIA back in the day, dealing with the Bay of Pigs rebels in addition to other unsavory individuals, wouldn’t know ANYTHING about arranging a political assassination, no not at all (laugh-chuckle-snort).

As for GHWB and the first Gulf War, Iraq did in fact invade Kuwait, and Iraqi aggression had to be stymied, but GHWB didn’t finish the job, which is why the Kurds were damn near slaughtered. GWB’s motives for going into Iraq are questionable, it has been long suspected that he just wanted to even the score after Saddam attempted to assassinate Poppy Bush during a visit to Kuwait, post-Gulf War. Be that as it may, getting rid of Saddam wasn’t an altogether bad thing, as we would now have THREE powers in that region racing to reach a nuclear capability otherwise (Iraq, Libya AND Iran). But GWB totally screwed the pooch when it came to the follow up and occupation of Iraq. We should have negotiated a 20 year treaty with Iraq that would have provided U.S. troops and support in EXCHANGE for ALL oil exports, and reconstituted Iraq in the same way that we rebuilt and rehabilitated Japan after World War II.

I say ‘20 years’ because that would have locked in a U.S. presence in the region, lil boy Barky would not have been able to negate that (although being a lawless effin’ sack o’ feces, he would have tried), and Iraq MIGHT have become a true secular Islamic state as Iran USED to be before Jimmy Carter stabbed the Shah of Iran in the back.

Politics in the Levant is politics in the Levant. Before it was Arab it was Byzantine which is where we got that word for convoluted politics. What is insane is the West trying to operate inside that system. What is real is that America, with a Moslem jihadist President IS within that system and has incorporated it into the American system.

Put your belief and faith into God, nothing else will suffice.

Other than that, they’re all liars. Just be ready to defend freedom.

I believe there is truth to the story that a Bush staffer gave Saddam a broad hint that if he were to invade Kuwait America wouldn’t interfere.
