Getting congress to fund a wall is going to take political skill and many allies in congress.

Political skill, yes; not a lot of allies. If Congress doesn't see the light Trump will make sure they feel the heat.

If/when he wins the nomination he can start to worry about coattails.

Trump maybe the only candidate willing to declare US bankrupt. I don’t see Cruz or any other candidate willing to do this

Cruz is too close to the banking cabal. Except for that and squishiness on immigration and trade and a personal style that makes him not electable, he is the perfect constitutional candidate.

I don't intend to participate in the invasion of Orcs that will end up with me dead in my own home clutching a copy of the Constitution.

And exactly how is he going to do that? I mean within the constitutional bounds despite the fact that you progressives don't care about them.

"So Rush is going to carry water for GOPe?

He always, I used to like Rush back in the early 90's. But these days come crunch time he just spins for the establishment.

Here's the quote

"As we mentioned yesterday, if you look at the demographics, at least as expressed polling data, the bulk of Trump support is what we all have been led to believe the Republican Party wants: blue-collar people, moderates and independents," suggested Limbaugh. "I mean there's the fact that they don't control Trump, and the real thing is they don't have any money invested, and as such they have no say-so over what he does at all."

Limbaugh claimed, "There's a genuine adversarial relationship. It isn't new, folks, but it keeps intensified. I mean, the adversarial relationship was plain as day back in the in the '70s when Reagan was attempting to become the Republican nominee, and the establishment Republicans of that day had similar animus to Reagan, and they did their best to discredit Reagan with his supporters."

I’m a white Mississippian who lives in Nashville surround county

A state where that demographic votes 90% GOP

And almost all my extended clan of over 100 family and friends support Trump to varying degrees

Trump and Cruz

If that’s not the base I don’t know what is

Ditto how folks I know in TN feel

Rush needs to get off EIB-ONE and drive around and reacquaint with the nation

"We are currently tuned-in, reading, watching, and listening to the various punditry saying the Republican Party is now collectively engaged in destroying the person we support and have outlined above."

Nicely stated.

Trump is a practical realist. He knows left wing policies don’t work, and he knows how to make conservative policies work. If we can’t have Cruz, he’ll suffice.

Can you discuss issues without being a twit?

What did I say that makes me a progressive?

I expect Trump to:

---win the nomination.

---campaign for an agenda and create coattails.

---reverse the stupid EOs.

---implement the agenda.

---go around the establishment/media when necessary to ask supporters to light up their representatives.

Why don't you point out the constitutionally offensive parts.

I'll wait...and while you're responding, explain why your becoming part of the problem gets us where we want to go.

Trump leans right—but he’s not a Conservative—he’s a Capitalist and that’s what we need now. He can unite the folks and restore trust—why are so many trying to stop him and foist “Its my Turn” Bush upon us? Why do people want to draft a failed retread like Mittens? Cruz is good but he has baggage (The man who closed down the government mantra) I know a President Trump would pick the best guys to do the Nations business because he want a good environment for Capitalism. “Whats good for Trump is good for the USA>” Sad but the GOPe has failed us—maybe it needs to go the way of the Whigs. Maybe Trump needs a new 3rd Party—a party that could be the real 2nd party. A new Federalist Party—Lion as a symbol, Liberty as a watchword. Seek a united front and not a mixture of minorities.

In 2008, Romney was more conservative than he was by 2012......Rush never said that in 2012. In 2008, Romney was more conservative than McCain. In 2008, the people who ended up supporting Romney in 2012 were bitching about him being “too Republican” and “too conservative” versus McCain.(Fox News, WSJ, etc).

Dude, timing is everything. Romney was not nearly the centrist pussy in 08 that he became in 12.

While I don’t disagree with your premise, I am concerned that the singular focus of many on the immigration catastrophe has blinded some of us to overlook many of the Donald’ s positions over the years relative to the principles of the conservative movement....

My biggest concern is that we are going to elect the GOP version of Obummer. I am most concerned about governing via E.O.’s. Will we cheer on our Ceaser after 8 years of his High and Mightiness, and does this portend the end of the Republic, or the beginning of its restoration, it’s hard to tell with Trump.

I am convinced that Trump has even odds of becoming our nominee, I hope he has the guts to unite the party and picks Cruz as his veep, he needs a Constitutionally grounded conservative to put the federal leviathan in check and return power to the states and we the people.

I will back Cruz. Barring his nomination, I will pull the lever for Trump and hope. Trump/Cruz would make that much easier.

I agree with every single syllable of that....and in my 2013 book I predicted that the Republican Party and the conservative movement might destroy itself with an internal war over immigration. I said the race to sound the most extreme on deportation would over whelm the much more important issue of immediate border security, and might well guarantee the election of someone and their party who doesn't ever want to secure the border or ever see a single illegal dropped from welfare rolls, etc.

So I fear that happening....and I also am worried about conservatives rallying around someone who never ever says "limited government" or "liberty" and rarely says "Constitution."

... close enough for the Dems to steal it through fraud.

*sigh*

Democrats don't cheat, fight voter ID laws tooth and nail, promote policies (such as Motor Voter) that make it easy for illegals to vote, etc. etc. etc., just to hedge their bets.

They cheat because if they didn't, they'd LOSE. Believing the myth that cheating only works for them "when it's close" is defeatist and ultimately guaranteed to aid and abet Democrat fraud.

I have hope -- that American patriots who want limited government will wake up in time to throw their support behind the ONE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE whose record indicates a steady political compass: Ted Cruz.

Those who vote for Trump only know how they hope he will govern; Trump lacks entirely any political record and in fact has a long history of leaning left and at best, moderate.

Those who vote for Cruz KNOW how he will govern because he has a political track record that shows his consistent political compass, very much like my own and the one that guided the Founding Fathers.

I have found HOPE. I hope you find sense.
