A resolution to honor the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks each year at the University of Minnesota was rejected by the student government there, with some students expressing concern that such a measure could foster âIslamaphobia.â
The resolution noted that the attack still has a lasting effect on many on campus, and âthe events of that date are of immeasurable importance to the world we live in today,â and that the university has no formal memorial for that date on campus. It called for a moment of recognition on the morning of Sept. 11, 2016, and every year to come.
It failed.
Twenty-three of the students representing undergraduates voted for it, three abstained, and 36 voted against it.
Some of the opposition was logistical, according to a statement from the student government.
But according to the Minnesota Republic, the student newspaper which broke the story, there was strong opposition voiced during the debate before the vote last week by David Algadi, the at-large representative to the Minnesota Students Association and its director of diversity and inclusion. He emphasized that 9/11 was a national tragedy, but warned....

I believe that I must speak out against Islam and not the people who are Moslems. There is a difference in loathing Islam as an erroneous doctrine and the people who practice it. Islam is a twisted idealogy. Moslems are only misguided people, slaves to a violent form of authoritarianism.
Islam is no religion.
It must be banned in America! And all mosques closed in America! Then Moslems who live in America can live in freedom & peace or move to a country where Islam is legal.

Yea, wouldn’t want to piss off the Muslims.
Bring back HUAC.
Every patriotic alumnus and sports booster should withhold any donations and drop support for this anti-American hellhole - same with University of MO and we’ll see the administrations grow a pair.
It sounds as though these Kollege Kiddies are suffering from Flatuphobia. The fear of not being politically correct.
We fight back or lose. The day is coming fast where they will put us in cattle cars.
It is student government types who go into political life. That explains a lot.
Student government and student activism is increasingly Islamist from coast to coast.
The majority of the student bodies go to class and ignore student governments and don’t vote.
Yup.
This Islamophopia meme is a huge hit with the 60’s wannabes. These brats are looking for something that matters in their lives and coming up empty.
Thus #LoveWins & #Islamophobia. This will be completely viral and soon the faux hippies will be marching and lecturing us on how hateful we are. Wonder how they’d feel if they’d been in that concert. Of course, God forbid, but they still may get a closer look before it’s over.
...and we let these people vote?

Agree. It’s the colleges and universities that have been teaching this liberal garbage for years. Why do we want to continue to fund such trash? I wouldn’t.

So what they’re saying is that, “We know islam is responsible for 911 but we don’t want to bring attention to it.” They look like fools. They cannot handle the truth.
And there are ways to honor those that we killed on 911 without making it about islam. I have no respect for such idiots.
Just another example of what a bunch of maleducated and indoctrinated heads full of mush we have in all too many of the younger generations.
Looks as though the indoctrination phase is almost complete. We have a generation of mind-numbed
cretins. Their folks must be proud.
Coming from a University, that does not surprise me one iota.
It’s not a phobia when they really want to kill us and have proven it many times.
My Alma mater.
The MSA has been a pain in the @$$ for decades. It’s just a group that constantly tries to find a way to draw attention to itself in the worst way possible.
While I attended the cause was divestment from South Africa. Lots of protests and breaking windows of university buildings.
Yes: Just bend over backwards to not mention the ideology or avowed motivation of the perpetrators, their backers, and the milieu from which they came.
Problem solved!
