CNBC Moderators Speak At Just Fifth-Grade Level
Daily Caller ^ | 10/30/2015 | Eric Owens

CNBC has breathlessly reported that the Republican candidates who have participated in this year’s three GOP presidential debates have spoken at the ninth-grade level or below according to the Flesch-Kincaid readability test.

The cable network announced its findings on Thursday, the day it was widely criticized for bungling this week’s debate.

CNBC does not appear to have subjected its own moderators to the Flesch-Kincaid readability test.

However, The Daily Caller did.

The results show that the words (and words and words) uttered by CNBC’s small battalion of moderators averaged a fifth-grade vocabulary level — just barely.

Like CNBC, TheDC used the Flesch-Kincaid readability test for its analysis. (You may remember using the Flesch-Kincaid test to evaluate your term papers in older versions of Microsoft Word. The tool is still available in newer versions, apparently, but buried deep.)

Its the usual canard from the press, better known as the propaganda wing of the Demo Party. Reagan is stupid, can’t govern, Jimmy Carter is a genius, can govern. So Ben Carson, the world’s leading pediatric neurosurgeon, speaks at a 9th grade level? So Ted Cruz, a member of the Princeton debate team and a Harvard Law graduate who has argued nine cases before the Supreme Court, is an idiot? So Rand Paul, who is an eye surgeon, is stupid? No. There were three stupid, incoherent people at that debate and they sat in the CNBC moderator’s chairs.

Better watch out. Using this test, Trump will be found to speak at a first-grade level. Maybe kindergarden.

Don’t get me wrong. I like Trump and what he is doing a lot.

I’m just a Cruz fan.......smartest guy in US government.....

I heard a long time ago that newspapers are written at the 8th grade level. Wonder how dim politicians are ranked considering their voter’s education level.

Dragging out the Flesch-Kincaid to analyze candidates speech patterns is a boring standard routine of every political season. Mysteriously, and I’m sure it is purely coincidental, it is only ever applied to conservative candidates if the results are “negative” and liberals if the results are “positive”.

The reality is any speaker who talked at a 12-grade-plus level would come across as a pompous twit. In other words they would be John Kerry.

Ditto here. That was quite a while ago. The intent was to make the content of newspapers comprehensible by the average reader. I'd say that today they'd have to be at the 5th grade level to achieve the same. However, based on what I see from "journalists" that's not a downgrade for them but more of a stretch.

The problem with having debate moderators from the MSM is that candidates feel obliged to dumb down their message to make it understandable to the likes of Harwood and Quick.

Yeah; technically KJV isn’t Old English. Learned that when a seminary student. I used that term ‘cause it’s kind-a sort-a in that vein. It is so beautiful.

Actually, it's quite understandable that the CNBC hosts would speak at such an elementary level. Just look at their audience. Anyone who would look to NBC for business advice would certainly be so poorly educated, or even less. It takes one to know one.

The audience for GOP presidential candidates, however, would be quite opposite. These are people who see through the lies and giveaways of the Democrat party, and its sycophant press. The expectation of GOP presidential voters is much-much higher.

In their effort to defend themselves NBS has opened up a can they didn't intend to. I expect former Hillary and obama and Bernie and every liberal's speeches to be similarly gauged going forward. Even the daily newscasts by former Clinton advisors and Sunday shows, and articles from the NYTimes and WaPo won't evade scrutiny.

What a mess these mediots made for themselves when they decided to strike back.

How else could the media morons understand what was said. Hell they are just teleprompter readers. No comprehension required.

I want to see the results for what grade/reading level Joe Biden speaks at

Might be hard since Joe has been known to plagiarize speeches

Really. Last election a record number of them turned out to fight Obama by electing a house and senate leader that actively campaigned on working with Obama.

Two years prior, about 65,000,000 people turned out to stop the liberal abuses of the Obama admin by voting for a man that personally funded and legislated for Planned Parenthoos, profited from the ‘result’ of their activities (literally burning America’s furure to ash at Stericycle), was the father of Gay Marriage in America as Gov.,is a gun grabber, created what became Obamacare, has dozens of recorded examples of taking both sides of important issues and switching positions by audience, studiously avoided military service, defines ‘crony capitalist’ and a host of other hard left positions shared in mirror reflection with Barack Obama.

Today, after several years of watching the GOP cave on issues ranging from marriage to gay rights to funding terrorists to budgets to siding with the Democrat party openly to ensure the defeat of ‘undesirable conservatives’, GOP voters are once again mouthing the nonsense of “We gotta win no matter what” and promoting the election of exactly the same people and types of people to elected office that got them into this mess in the first place.

So yes. The reading and comp level of the average GOP voter is piss poor. if it isn’t, then we live in some upside down world where all the facts (and they are facts) above can be considered intelligent choices.
