Question: when do you know that a campaign is in trouble?
Answer: when it stops emphasizing its own message, and starts attacking its rivals.
Case in point: Team Jeb! Bush wants to open a full frontal attack on Marco Rubio, the young senator from Florida. At least, thatâs what the U.S. News & World Report says. This website got its hands on a presentation that Jeb and his cohorts used to convince Jebâs donors to stick by their guy, even though heâs trailing in the polls.
"Additionally, while the slides released to the media outlined Bushâs overarching argument against Florida Sen. Marco Rubio â that heâs the GOPâs Barack Obama â the complete offering contains more biting, detailed slights, pointedly questioning the character and ethics of Bushâs home state rival.
"The document provides a rare behind-the-curtain look at the gritty details of a campaign at a crucial inflection point. Hereâs a breakdown of the most illuminating pieces of intelligence contained in Bushâs 2016 blueprint."
The main point of the presentation? The campaign supposedly found some dirt on Rubio and is going to use it in the weeks and months ahead.
Hereâs a slide from the presentation. Pay special attention to the last bullet point:

Oh no! What in the world can that âconcernâ be? Did Marco cheat on his wife? Did he slaughter a poor, innocent puppy by eating it alive? What? Your imagination runs wild, doesnât it?
Well, sadly for the Bush campaign thereâs just one problem (in addition to it being rather pathetic that Jeb! is so desperate that he believes he can only win by destroying other candidates): it isnât true.

The Bushs do know where the dirt is buried.
I hope so.
So what you are saying is it wasn’t Rubio’s fault. It was his mother’s?
Rubio submitted a bill to triple the number of H1B visas.
Both !Yeb and Rubio are anti-American pukes. Let them take each other out.
If it was his mother’s fault then let him denounce his position and be a conservative. I don’t trust him. Anyone with money and bookkeeping problems is not trustworthy in D.C. where money flows like water. He is what is wrong with that place. We can’t afford to continue being sold south by these blood sucking parasites. Tow the line for America or get the hell out of the way for someone who will. My people were immigrants too. People must assimilate or leave. Obama has almost succeeded in transforming America into what the powers that be want this country to be, a new world order run by the U.N. and a vote for a politician that crosses the aisle will help Obama accomplish that.
If Presidential nominee Trump, Cruz, or Carson, chooses Bush as VP, I will lose all respect for him!
I think this is noble but naïve.
You and I do not disagree. I just am trying to be more inviting to one in error, to correct his ways. If he won’t do it, then he has made his decision not to do what is an obvious duty. (The Constitutional purpose is multi-generational, and anyone accepting citizenship, here, is absolutely morally bound to accept the purpose that goes with it.)
I hope they both go down in flames!
Just to know that JEB got his wealth via the political process is the principle reason to discredit him.
I hope he says in for awhile, reminding all of us as to how corrupt the GOP establishment machine actually is.
McCain? (What?) Romney? (Huh?) JEB (Heck No!)
Jeb is the poster boy for apathy and ambivalence.
