Club for Growth says $1 million ad buy hurt Trump

A conservative economic organization says its anti-Donald Trump ad campaign is one reason for the billionaire's sinking numbers in Iowa.

More than three weeks ago Club for Growth launched a $1 million TV buy in Iowa.

The ad buy may have helped. In a new poll of likely Iowa caucus participants conducted by Basswood Research, Trump has fallen into second place behind Dr. Ben Carson, 21 to 16 percent. Marco Rubio is five points behind Trump in third place.

The Hill reports the survey questioned 500 likely GOP caucus-goers and Club for Growth commissioned the poll.

‘When foreigners attend our great colleges & want to stay in the U.S., they should not be thrown out of our country.”

“I want talented people to come into this country—to work hard and to become citizens. Silicon Valley needs engineers, etc.”

The above quotes are from......TRUMP! (Twitter, Aug. 2015).

Cruz has said the same thing. Cruz also has in there that the corporations have to prove that they can’t find Americans with the skills they require. Although I imagine there will be lots of ways to get around that - much like “competitive bids” but then you get to the part about the left-handed albino guy.

Cruz bases it on the idea that why educate these people and then ship them back off overseas in order to compete against us, where keeping them here will help America? With “protections” that they aren’t competing against our workers.

OTOH - I’ve seen other papers that say Cruz is wrong, and there is NOT a shortage of skilled American STEM workers.

Regardless - this one issue, or one of several issues that I may not 100% agree with Cruz on, I’ve sent him a donation from time to time.

About the only difference is that Cruz would be willing to expand the H1B visa program though if done right that is not much of an issue. It is the abuse of that program that bothers people.

Are you kidding me? A visa program designed to eliminate and replace the American middle class workforce is not "much of an issue". LOL.

Cruz is in the pockets of Club for Growth. Why do you think he is pushing for H1-B visa foreign workers expanded FIVE times current levels?

Cruz also voted “Yea” on the Corker bill. Another push for the cheap labor express. And he was pushing TPA in the senate.

These 3 actions prove beyond any doubt Cruz is in the pockets of his rich donors...just like the other 14 candidates.

We currently allow ONE MILLION+ immigrants each year. 95% of those are sponsored by close relatives. 90% of those are low skilled immigrants, and 60% of them end on public dole.

Trump wants to allow American educated highly intelligent college graduates allowed to immigrate INSTEAD of the millions of under-educated immigrants.

It is not expansion of immigrants. It is improving quality of immigrants, and reducing welfare candidate immigrants.

“if done right that is not much of an issue.”

The whole H1-B program is built on the lie that there are not enough qualified people in the USA to fill high tech jobs. H1-B an uneccessary sham that cronies like the Club for Growth love. Expanding it 5X is a horrible idea and will cost thousands of Americans their well paying jobs The truth is that almost twice as many people graduate with STEM degrees every year in this country than end up working in the STEM fields. There is no shortage of qualified Americans to fill STEM positions. There is a shortage of Americans willing to work STEM jobs at wages that the Cheap Labor Express cronies want to pay. The H1-B program mainly benefits companies that hire cheap imports to replace Americans workers as Disney, PG&E and others have done. I like the position Trump took on H1-B visas in his immigration paper.

Yes they do. I really do not care who buys ads. So what? That is freedom at work. What I do not like is the PAID media that carries water for the Democrats but never has to reveal the cost of their in kind contribution. It is not fair. Good for the Koch’s for at least leveling the playing field a little.

Cruz’s view on the H-1B visas is not the only problem. Once illegals have legal status of any kind, it becomes discriminatory if an employer does not hire them and hires an American citizen instead.

They will be LEGAL. The only difference will be they supposedly can’t vote.

I had to google the facts of the Corker Immigration Bill (2013). Aside from rounding up all the illegals into trains and shipping them back home, this bill seems to want to strengthen the border first - with the compromise that green cards can be given after a 10 year waiting period AFTER ALL the provisions are COMPLETED. (Yes - sometimes a compromise needs to be reached in politics to get things done.)

http://www.corker.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/news?ContentRecord_id=e842e910-1057-4144-8960-c94f62da63bb

Excerpt:

FACT: The amendment contains tangible, concrete triggers which ensure that Registered Provisional Immigrants (RPIs) cannot receive green cards until at least 10 years after the enactment of the bill, AND the Secretary of Homeland Security, in consultation with the Attorney General, the Secretary of Defense, the Inspector General, and GAO, certifies that:

...an additional 20,000 Border Patrol agents are deployed, maintained and stationed along the southern border, more than doubling the current force.

...Southern Border Security Strategy is deployed and operational, which includes, at a minimum, full implementation and activation of the $4.5 billion in specific technology and equipment...

The Southern Border Fencing Strategy has been implemented, and at least 700 miles of fencing has been completed along the southern border. (There are 350 miles of pedestrian fencing already deployed along the southern border. This amendment would double that and ensure a total of 700 miles of fencing along the border.)

The mandated electronic visa entry/exit system has been fully implemented at all air and sea ports of entry....

E-Verify is being used by all employers in the country, making it virtually impossible to work in the United States illegally.

In addition to the border security measures outlined above, the amendment mandates the initiation of removal proceedings for at least 90% of visa overstays – 40% of the illegal immigration problem...

There are lots of other things going on in the bill to enforce the laws against illegal immigration.

And remember that Obola has extended work permits to the SPOUSES of H-1B visa holders. So double the pool of available workers to take jobs away from Americans. That too will be subject to antidiscrimination statutes.

Considering that most of the spouses will be women, and that the majority of the almost 100 million American unemployed are women, where are these Jeb plants getting the chuzpah to say Trump doesn’t care about women?

His positions protect American women, but don’t confuse them with the facts. They’d rather smugly talk about control of their bodies. Having a trigger finger doesn’t make it legal to murder—that’s “control over your own body” too.

Sure shows in his polling. Did you see the Quinnipiac poll today? Trump at 34 in CT -—20 up on Carson. And, it has him losing to Cankles 47-40 .. . except Zero beat Romney 54-40 and McCain 60-38 there. So Trump, even before the nomination, is ALREADY performing at the level of, or above, Romney.

You are confusing it with Hair club for men. Club for growth will be losing a lot of hair. Trump running commentary on the Beast and her Mini me’s at tonight’s debate will make Club for Shrink lose some hair.

20,000 Additional Border agents is 100 times more expensive than building a low maintenance impenetrable wall.

Only Trump knows how to construct large structures WITH PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. His projects have a history of coming on schedule and under budget. NONE OF THE OTHER CANDIDATES know how to build a garage shed. I do not trust them to build a significant wall.

E-Verify is a cruel joke. The Billion dollar drug trade operators do notwork on jobs. And many illegals work for cash. Go see the crowds of them waiting to be picked up for a daily work shift paid in cash.

Do you know what is really lame about e-verify? The only penalties are fines! No one goes to prison! Corporations simply chalk it off as cost of doing business. There goes all the control on visa-overstays.

NONE OF THE CANDIDATES dare utter the words “DEPORT ALL Illegals” except Trump. Not in speeches or their web sites.

Wake up and smell the coffee...all candidates are under command of their rich donors who want the cheap labor express speeding along. If you can not understand this simple basic fact, there is no further debate necessary.

It is the abuse of that program that bothers people.

"Abuse" is a red herring - the problem with H-1B is that it's working as designed:

H-1B Is Designed to Allow Employers to Replace Americans with Cheap Foreign Workers
H-1B Is Designed to Allow Employers to Pay Foreign Workers Extremely Low Wages

Cruz is not quite as hard line on illegals as is Trump but almost. If you like Trumps stand you’ll probably like Cruz’s

About the only difference is that Cruz would be willing to expand the H1B visa program though if done right that is not much of an issue. It is the abuse of that program that bothers people]b].

The H-1B program was designed to be 'abused'. It is designed to rep;ace Americans with CHEAP, DESPERATE foreign labor.

Cruz is for quintupling the number of H-1B's.

a complete list of H-1B occupations

There is not now nor has there ever been a shortage of STEM talent in the US.

Additionally no one ever mentions there are many. many. many unemployed experienced, proven STEM people in the US.

There are so many H-1B visa overstays that US techies compete against illegal aliens who have a culture of no problem gaming the US safety net for them selves and their families and their village.
