2015: 274 days, 294 mass shootings, hundreds dead
The Washington Post ^ | October 1, 2015 | Christopher Ingraham

Posted on 10/01/2015 12:44:23 PM PDT by don-o

Today a shooter opened fire at a community college in Oregon. Early media reports indicate numerous fatalities and a number of additional people wounded. That brings the total of mass shootings this year -- incidents where 4 or more people are killed or injured by gunfire -- to 294.

There have been only 274 days this year. The shootings are captured in this calendar, drawn from the the Mass Shooting Tracker. The tracker draws some criticism because its definition is broader than the FBI's definition, which requires three or more people to be killed by gunfire. But the broader definition is nonetheless a useful one, because it captures many high-profile instances of violence — like the Lafayette theater shootings — that don't meet the FBI's criteria.

These numbers only tell the smallest part of the story.

Yeah, that smallest part the media chooses exclusively to focus on...the guns. Never mind that our culture has turned into a festering rot churning out at least two generations of profligates. All thanks to liberalism.

It can be because the narrative is already written. Like a template, the “journ-o-list” just has to fill in the blanks.

Another shooting in a gun free zone. How can this be? More evidence is that we need an armed public to put a stop to this. Remember when the Younger-James Gang robbed the bank in Northfield, MN. It wasn’t the DHS that put a stop to that, it was the citizens of Northfield who weren’t going to let anyone ride off with their money.

I am always armed anyplace it is legal and in Texas it is most places. If I intend to have alcoholic beverages I am not armed as it can cloud your judgment. When I am in a store or restaurant and know other patrons are armed I feel safe. I refuse to patronize an establishment that will not allow me to carry a weapon.

The media depends on big pharma for advertising revenue. They’re not going to bite the hand that feeds them.

Lest anyone misunderstand, the msm is not out to do the public any favors. They exist only to destroy - destroy people, things, ideas, and lately, a great nation.

Is anyone truly surprised?

Setting aside the biblical explanations for our times and the pharma-lab neurochemistry we mandate for ourselves and our children, our pop culture celebrates violence of all kinds, especially gun violence.

Not just on TV or in our movies and literature, but in our music, our fashions and fashion accessories, our art, in social media and, of course, in our video games.

Based upon how we react, our pop culture seemingly loves a shooting, especially mass shootings.

The perps are given, not blame and shame by a disgusted media, but fame for their violence. The higher the body count and gore, the greater the level of fame, even notoriety fit for the history books.

Common sense is no longer a sponsor of this program and, instead, we citizens of this new world must never forget these common core truths:

It's ALWAYS the gun's fault, the NRA's fault, Christian Redneck America's fault and definitely YOUR fault if you fail to vote for demonrats and gun control in each and every election!

Call me crazy, but personally, I'm going with the biblical explanations for this new world crazy as found in Romans 1:25-32, 2 Thessalonians 2, Ezekiel 28 and Daniel.

Trust me or not, but it ain't the gun.

me too. in Colorado the no gun signs are not legally binding so we just chuckle as we walk past (does noyt include any federal buildings or property which are designated kill zones). i carry at home too
