Propane doesn’t ‘diesel,’ it has an octane rating above 130.
More like 110 octane. But I don’t see how the higher octane prevents dieseling if there is a carbon hot spot, or the timing is off, or if any of the other factors that can make a gasoline engine run on exist.
A “hot spot” would affect only one cylinder.
Timing doesn’t advance by itself.
Severely advanced timing would reduce engine output, and result in cooler running. (and likely blow the head gasket in multiple locations)
Only a failure of the cooling system could produce the stated effects.
