Last night Ted Cruz couldn’t get his Republican Senate colleagues to back his proposed amendment to stop funding Planned Parenthood for one year and to prevent the Obama administration from using funds to implement the Iran nuclear deal until Congress can examine the additional agreements or “side deals” between the terrorist state and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
“You know, Obama has negotiated a catastrophic nuclear deal with Iran. Republican leadership goes on television all the time and rightly says this is a catastrophic deal. I would suggest that if we actually believed the words that are coming out of their mouths, then we should be willing to use any and all constitutional authorities,” Cruz said.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell tore a page from former Democrat Leader Harry Reid’s playbook and “filled the tree” with amendments and blocked Cruz from offering his amendment during a voice vote.
The worm is definitely turning for the GOPe, it doesn’t matter how many senators and congressmen don’t want change to come.
Their voters are wise to them in general, I don’t see how they can continue as before.
Its ‘bout damn time.
Now we know why McConnell won’t get rid of the filibuster/cloture vote. He uses it as a hammer against the Republicans (some).
Congress is less popular than Hitler, and republican congress is nearly universally despised. Cruz is hitting the failed congressional leadership with a populist chord that happens to be widely understood as the truth. It is my hope that Trump, Carson, et al jump on the band wagon and speak about the failure of republican leadership to mount a credible defense to the democrat’s hard push to the left.
Well one useful thing that came out of this exercise is that it showed where the other two senators running for president stand.

It will be interesting to see what kind of deal Boehner cuts with the dems on his way out. I fear he may be wanting to punish the GOP for pushing him out. I'm not sure how much more damage he can do but I think we're going to find out.
Now if we can just oust that cadaver McConnell...

Mike Lee reportedly backed Cruz, but I didn’t hear of anyone else who did. Supposedly Cornyn and Alexander were in the chamber at the time but wouldn’t second Cruz’s motion.
