OK, all you Trump supporters..how are you liking his promise of universal (government) health care?
one man's opinion...

Posted on 09/29/2015 6:16:01 AM PDT by ken5050

Well, you can't say we didn't tell you so, or at least try to warn you. But would you listen? NOOOOOOO!!! Much is being said here about Trump's tax proposals..and yes, there is a lot in there that makes sense. But he also said Sunday night that he wanted free, universal, single-payer government run healthcare...and....nary a peep from any of you Trump die-hards.

We already have free, government run healthcare for the poor. It’s call Medicaid. You want to kill that? Want to cut Medicare, too?

I’d like to see *any* politician run on that platform and let’s see how far they get.

If you were right (you’re not) and that is Trump’s plan, then why would he be talking about driving down costs by deregulating the insurance industry??

How does that even make *sense*?

The thing is, Trump isn’t my guy... he really isn’t... but after watching the entire field of candidates over the past 3 or 4 months, he is clearly the ONLY guy who’s inspiring and connecting in any meaningful way.

Yes, the other guys may say more conservative things, and some of them may be really honest and mean what they are saying, but none of them, none of them are connecting.. let alone connecting across the board.

Anyone with two eyes and a mind open enough to see, can’t deny that Trump is connecting with voters in a way no politician has in a long long time, and certainly better than anyone else this election cycle by far.

I wrote off Trump early as just a self promoter, but after watching a few of his events, it became very clear, there is truly something there, and its not invented or astroturfed.... he’s truly connecting and its not very hard to see why. Ideologically he’s not where I would prefer our next president to be, but there is little doubt in my mind that unless he does something like start being disingenuous, this election is his to lose.

The oligarchy wants a Bush or a Clinton, but seriously do you know ANYONE, ANYONE who is bucking to walk into a voting booth and have to choose between those two??

Both parties have betrayed this nation and her people for decades, they are completely disconnected and I don’t see how any mainstream politician has any shot of winning, let alone one who’s last name is Bush. You aren’t going to win an election where you have to spend the entire campaign defending and justifying your brother’s administration.... Who, like it or not left office largely unpopular.. so much so that no Republican had any shot of winning in 2008, which set the state for the bum we have today.

So far the official Policy’s Trump has put forth are light years better than anything anyone on the left will offer, and while I don’t agree 100% with everything he’s ever said, I don’t doubt him when he says he wants to fix America... Whether he can pull it off? Who knows, but at least I know he’s not being disingenuous when he says it... that’s a far cry better than a bunch of lip service from establishment politicians who have sold this nation down the toilet through most of my life.

Reagan was by far the best president of my lifetime, but he was WRONG on free trade, and on this topic Trump gets it! Finally someone finally gets it, and isn’t continuing the same lie that shipping factory jobs to the third world and leaving the US with burger flipping jobs and low level service industry jobs in their place is NOT a good or fair trade. And he’s the only Republican I can think of at the national level who’s dared say that in the last 30 years, for that one I say Kudo’s Mr Trump.

I’d love to see a President Cruz, I would, but it ain’t going to happen short of something miraculous happening. Trump could self destruct before election day, there is a lot of time left, but there is no doubt if he keeps firing on all cylinders, this thing is his to lose.

However the last thing, the absolute last thing this nation needs is a Bush or a Clinton in the White House again.

The other objection against Trump that folks offer is he can’t beat Hillary, and that’s a garbage argument, Trump in a head to head race will whipe the floor with her, just watch him delivering a stump speech/rally and then watch hers.... He will decimate her. She will get no more than someone in the mid to upper 30s on election day against him... so this argument is garbage, and the polls are already showing him tying or winning head to head... so that’s a garbage argument as well.

This thing is Trump’s to lose at this point, and the reason is simple, the electorate doesn’t trust the political class, they have watched them sell America down the tubes for decades, they are completely out of touch, and no one that is perceived to be from it is going to inspire anything more than at best a nose holding vote.. and folks are sick of it.

Exactly. Cruz has no plan. In fact he has bugged me for the last week almost daily as he is 200K short on fundraising this month, and that was as of yesterday. These Cruz lovers had best save him financially.

I am anti Carly and I will admit I am vehomently opposed to that woman being anywhere near the white house... I work in IT and watched first hand her destroy one of the greatest tech and innovative companies the world had ever produced.

I watched her demand her own personal gulf stream, when the previous CEO’s flew coach. I watched her arrogantly put her picture up beside those of HP founders, no other CEO was so selfish, self centered or out of touch. She was a cancer to HP and the company is still in Chemotherapy from it and has not and likely will never recover from her horrible leadership.

Then I get the honor of watching her bald face lie on national TV about her tenure, knowing that a certain percentage of a gullible public will swallow her crap.

The fact she is on the stage at all shows you just how pathetic the Republican field as a whole is this year.

Donations to Clinton and the Clinton Foundation.

Blaming Republicans for the financial crisis.

Not being a registered Republican in either of the last two Presidential election years.

“Self-identifies” as Democrat and Barack Obama’s self-described “biggest fan”.

And now, single-payer health care.

But HE FIGHTS!!!!!

Not only are Freepers getting trolled, they’re lining up for the privilege and like Oliver Twist, are saying “Please, sir, I want some more!”

Mark Levin radio show 9-28-2015 (26:00 - 29:00 in audio-NOT SINGLE PAYER NO MATTER WHAT THE HEADLINES ARE SAYING. Mark wants to get Trump on his show to clarify whether this is an expanded role of govt. to help the poor when making deals with hospitals.

He is the only one laying out plans. The others give political sound bites and NO DETAILS. They are the reason nothing gets done as they have NO PLANS.

So, let me see, your argument is that the government shouldn’t be paying for health care..... Interesting, since you are about 70+ years to late to win that argument, in terms of an official legal precident, and lets not get into how much the government has been spending on health care for the indigent before that.

Who do you think pays the bills of the uninsured that aren’t on medicaid? Do you think they just evaporate when they can’t pay? Nope, the government foots the bill, sure it might not be a direct line item, but they do. Not one community hospital in this nation would be in operation today without federal funds... So if you live outside a major metropolitan area, and you want government spending on health care to go away, enjoy dying in the ambulance as you travel the 100 miles to the closest hospital.

Trump hasn’t released his plan, so I don’t know what his specifics are, but after working in health care for a while now I have no doubt that the government could save a ton of money and make sure folks are insured if approached properly. And if you can save the government money and be more effective and efficient while doing it, I’m going to generally be for it.

MOney’s already being spent by the boatloads for this, if you think otherwise you are very naive.

“I’m not distorting his words. Yes, his plan has a significant private market component, but it also has a significant government-provided component. Which his supporters seem to be OK with, for some reason.”

Well then, distorting or ignoring words in the context he said them.

The private component is 75%. And like others have pointed out most of the 25% are and have been covered all along anyway, by the rest of us who do pay.

I’ve been practicing medicine since 1975. Everything predicted by the opponents of Medicare in 1964-65 (there were still a lot of them around in 1975) has come true.

Everything is now so f***ed up, I no longer care what is done about it. Obamacare may be the fatal blow, but the tree has been rotten for a long time.

Lot's of luck there. They don't even show up on his (Cruz) threads. What do they average, about 5 replies per thread?

I like you post. When you watch Trump at the tax presser you realize there is so much about his business side the public hasn’t seen. His plan has so much red meat in it, it’s so practical, it’s so common sense. THat’s what he said - “I’m a man of common sense”. This obviously comes from his business experience - which is something none of the other candidates have.

I haven’t had this much hope for our country since for Reagan, and to a lesser extent Perot. Trump realizes we are at a point of no return, and talks about it. I agree. He’s the only one who has what it will take. He is the least “status quo” choice - in a good way.

Unless Cruz is abolishing Medicaid then he is in favor of gov healthcare for poor people.

Please show me Cruz’ position paper on eliminating Medicaid.
