News reel footage showing the inauguration of President Calvin Coolidge.
The best president of the last century +15 years.
The oath of office was originally administered to Coolidge at his home by his father. Although he was a government official, the elder Coolidge’s reach extended only statewide, hence the oath was re-administered later in Washington.
The elder Coolidge had to drive his Model-T into the mountains at night to deliver the news of Harding’s death to the vice-president, as the only telephone in town was in an establishment that had already closed for the night.
Cool video. I guess “Silent Cal” was appropriate after all., LOL (referring to the lack of audio in the video).
If there is another election (people might stay home to avoid the rash of shooting, bombings, and beheadings by the “refugees”), and if there is another inauguration (an Obama-ordered EMP might paralyze every vehicle and electronic device), I want to see Soetoro, and everyone who conspired to put a non-citizen in the White House, in chains, thirty seconds after Donald Trump takes the oath.
Keep Cool With Coolidge.
Beat me to it.
Hear, hear!!!
Ronald Reagan thought very highly of Calvin Coolidge.
You could go to almost any school today, show the students this clip, and tell them he was called "Silent Cal" because they had no talking pictures back then, and they'd believe it. After they asked, "Who was Calvin Coolidge?"
I know - sad, isn’t it? LOL Jessie Watters would have a field day with this video.
Also, the Great Depression would never have happened.
Most underrated President of all time. James K. Polk is 2nd.
“Also, the Great Depression would never have happened. “
That’s a strong statement. What would Coolidge have done differently from Hoover?
He would have done nothing, which would have been the appropriate action.
That's why he locked himself indoors with a bottle of whiskey upon hearing the news that Hoover was elected.
