More than 453 people were crushed to death and another 610 injured in a stampede on Thursday during the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, the Guardian reports, citing Saudi Arabian authorities.
The stampede happened at a pilgrimage camp in Mina, located outside the holy city of Mecca.
The incident happened on Street 204 one of the two main roads that lead through the Mina camp to Jamarat when two large groups of pilgrims arrived together, Reuters said.
Jamarat is where pilgrims stone the devil by throwing pebbles at three large pillars.
Thursday is Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, considered a particularly dangerous day because thousands of pilgrims try to perform rituals at the same time in the same location, according to The Telegraph.
More than 200 ambulances and 4,000 rescuers were sent to the scene of the stampede, the Telegraph said.

Sorry, that image is only for women. :)
Virgin Orc’s.
How and why did the ‘peaceful religion’ cause a stampede? What would cause a mass of people to stampede like that and over what? Hard to wrap the brain around it.
ROTFLMAO!!!
Whole lotta muzzie deaths this season so far from the holy city of Mordorerr Mecca. Deadly false god ping.
Finally, some good news coming out of the Middle East.
Looks like some faithful Muslims get to meet the devil early.
Being stomped on by 10 of thousands or orc’s and when they get to them, they must be flat like as a pancake!
Oh well, they will just hit up the breeders for more.
idiots
Amazing amount of herd mentality when they get together in large groups.
Good! Cheers!
TADA!!!!!!!!!!!
The difference between a disaster and a tragedy. 450 is a disaster, a tragedy is that there were survivors.
What do you call 1000 lawyers drowning in the ocean...A GOOD START
Good.
Were The Who performing? (Hey, I’m from Cincinnati, I can make that joke).
A good start. Damned good start.
This will probably, finally, prompt the Saudis to journey to some engineering facility located over here (in the midst of the Great satan) and work out some safety designs.
They can’t even blame booze
As they say in Kabul, “Inshallah”.
