In the primary Mitt attacked Perry for his softness on illegals. Perry said “you don’t have a heart”. It ended Perry.

Scott Walker is a candidate who looked great on paper, but in practice, was a complete joke of a candidate.
On paper, he was an effective policymaker who knows how to fight and how to win. In practice, he is a lukewarm candidate with zero charisma, showing little or no command of the issues. He hired bad advisers and then listened to their bad advice. This made him appear to be indecisive, which is death to a guy who doesn’t exactly project intelligence.
That was a big issue too. Scott Walker looked like he wasn’t very bright. Not having a college degree could actually be an asset in this race, but it becomes a liability if people begin to wonder whether or not you COULD have gotten one.

Exactly right. I hate to say it like this, but I’m gonna, cause theirs not a PC bone in my body.
He’za northerner. Most democrats in Texas are more conservative than Northeasterners, Northerners and Left coasters.
Besides, he did an interview in Houston, on the Michael Berry radio program. He laid out some pretty good policy positions regarding immigration. I liked it. About a week or so later, he did a town hall up in the North...totally contradicted his positions I’d heard from him on the radio.

He wanted to go from WI to DC, so he went first to DC and got lost.
Had he gone to the voters instead of K Street he might have kept his center.
He seemed lost and already entrenched with the ‘in’ crowd.
The more he talked, the more people smelled the K Street stench.

Who knows why a kid does things sometimes. Didn’t really matter to me; I just knew something important to adults was going on.

For example, he appointed former Gov. Bob List to chair his Nevada campaign, the ultimate suck up RINO (friend of Harry Reid). It was death by a thousand cuts.
I supported him and wish he was still in the race. Maybe he saw the writing on the wall and knew when to call it off. He is a good candidate in my opinion and has many years ahead. Possible VP? Maybe.
Crimmigration. Period. The end.
But the Presidency is no longer merely a high political office - it demands a National Figurehead. Both parties are having huge problems this time finding anyone with enough charisma to fill the void. I suspect the next President will leave office as the most hated political figure since Richard Nixon.
He didn’t differentiate himself from the other “also ran” candidates. Not differentiating = blending in = the subtle feeling of another GOPe.
I thought he was pretty strong but on the national stage he is just dull. He had little of consequence to say. He acted like a politician in every way. Some here are correct, his consultants may have over handled him but he let them.
He also got overshadowed by Donald. They all did. They thought they were going to run a traditional campaign of spewing crap to to the people and giving no good or new choice. Trump has energized this race and if he does not keep it up he too will wither.
THE ONLY THING WORSE THAN TO UNDER DELIVER IS TO OVER PROMISE AND THEN UNDER DELIVER. Donald had better pay attention to this.
I’m sick of politicians. Being a politician is not supposed to be a career and it is not supposed to be the near exclusive province of a bunch of pettifogging lawyers, walker is not one I realize.
I’d like Cruz even better if he was not just a politician. We have too many people who live in government.
Apparently that is not going to happen with one or two unmentioned candidates. We shall see.
When he gave his speech on suspending his candidacy he was reading it from the podium. When he got to the end and was thanking his wife and kids he was still reading it.
When you feel passionately about something or someone you should be able to tell it from the heart. He became too mechanized and too dispassionate to connect with the folks.
I started out a Scott Walker guy, way way way way back. Scott Walker was on my radar long before anyone else that I ever saw started tossing his name around for a presidential bid. He seemed like a great candidate - fought the unions and the liberals in Wisconsin and won, repeatedly. He was a fighter. He was acceptably socially conservative. Etc. etc.
BUT.
He failed to distinguish himself - ESPECIALLY once he more or less landed on the “pathway to citizenship” train. At that point, he became just another GOP-Er who wanted to sell out the American worker and the American people so that the Chamber of Commerce types could have cheaper labour.
At that point, he just faded away.
Could someone wake me when the dust settles. This minutiae is driving me batty. For the record it was a short trip.
