When the story first broke, I thought that this was something he’d make reading a schematic and buying resistors and diodes and LEDs and soldering it together. I did things like that when I was his age, I made a metal detector as an Electronics class project. I was inclined at first to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Then it comes out that he just disassembled a commercially-produced digital clock and repackaged it into the pencil case. What was achieved by that from a technical perspective? Zero. Then it comes out that his dad is an ‘anti-Islamophobia activist’. Ahh- I see what’s going on here. Provoke a response, re-sell it to the willing media as an overreaction by bigots, laugh all the way to the bank.
Moral narcissism is the basis of feel-good liberalism. It’s curable only through repeated reality muggings.
But of course, the teacher and the school are all just nasty racists who don't like to see minority kids succeed. Yes indeed, they're trying to destroy the imaginations and dreams of these poor, poor minority children...some who bring objects that look like bombs to school.
